One of my favourite songs. I predict the legend of Lightfoot will only grow as the years go by.
Some folks are hearing an old singer maybe past his prime. Me, I'm hearing experience, passion and a love for performing.

Touché! He never ever lost any of it in my mind right to the end. I am 64 and have loved him since I was 6 years old and have seen him in concert at least 20+ times at Massey hall and most recently at casino Regina in oct. 2022 and had the pleasure of meeting him (he even bear hugged me) and invited me to sit for a chat. In person he is everything you would expect, kind genuinely interested…just a very warm person that puts you at ease instantly. He did what he said he would and entertained us to the end. He was what I think of when I think Canada and still is. I will grieve forever for the loss but he never left and never will. All my love to you Gordon Lightfoot A CANADIAN ICON/LEGEND.

@@user-uu3qy2ot6s My dear, I completely agree with the entirely of what you wrote. My heart is still heavy with his passing and it’ll be a while before things are passable. Very melancholy feelings.

And the Soul that is there for his audience, in spite of being tired from decades, lived. Gordon, May you have had a fantastic time on your journey from your beautiful Ontario and loved ones there, to your home above. ✨🕊✨

Absolutely!
He wasn't just our musical poet laureate - a Canadian icon - a legendary troubador and poet . . . he was FAMILY. There wasn't a home in Canada where he wouldn't have been welcome. He was ours - and we were his. He was well loved - and we will miss him forever . . .
This song brings me to tears.
On May 1st, 2023 I lost an old musical companion. Gordon passed away at 84. His music was and still is my main inspiration to/for my own guitar picking.. ❤️ The immense catalogue of songs he's written and can still remember how to sing and play them is why he's the best.
I will love Gordon's music as long as I live.
Wish I had been on that audience. Love and miss you Mr Lightfoot. Thank you for the music of my life.
He did fantastic ..with being quite frail...RIP Legend.
This time tomorrow, we might all be packed and gone. I believe it’s best we carry on. Smoke rings rising ‘till they disappear in the sky above .....and if you ask me,, I’ll tag along.
Well done Mr. Lightfoot, the first time that I watched you I was 14 at Massy Hall, and never missed a chance to see you, may you sing for ever in heaven. God bless you and rest your soul.
"Smoke rings rising 'til they disappear, in the sky above" is one of the sweetest melodic hooks ever written. I put I'll Tag Along and Shadows right up there with If You Can Read My Mind as some of the greatest ballads of all time.

My all-time favorite singer-songwriter! It pains me to see Gordon so frail!
Gordon Lightfoot is Beautiful.
Lightfoot near the end...just as good as Lightfoot at the beginning. When he's gone, I will remember him until I die.

None of us know the hour and time of our passing... we might be gone before the next sun rises. I just hope they have music in Heaven... and wonderful artists like Gordon Lightfoot. Oh wait - this must be heaven right here and now!

I hear a very heartfelt song with much feeling with some insight . A guitar played with a masters touch . Put all together a story .
He may have health challenges, but you gotta give him credit for doing it anyway

You are SO right! He said he would do that and he did. I have had the privilege of meeting him 6 months before his passing. He was exactly like you think he would, a beautiful, genuine person who gave me a heartfelt hug and invited me to sit and he made me a cup of tea. Genuinely interested in what we talked about. My heart is very heavy but I have that beautiful memory and all the times thru my life his voice and songs saved me. It was very hard to see him so frail but his mind was as strong as ever it was.
Mr. Lightfoot will forever be a one of a kind. I will sing his songs till the day I die!
True legend. Thanks for the beautiful music that continues to inspire the current generation of song writers and performers. I'm learning how to play this song just now.
i listen to Gordie almost everyday now and always will
What a memorable voice! Wonderful performance. Thank you for continuing to speak to us as you always have. What a talent!
I know what Bob Dylan meant now when he said every song of GL was perfect.
I was drifting off to sleep listening to this song. What a sweeeet lullaby.
🦅💙 Gordon Lightfoot , ICON ! 🎶👏🥰
i wish i was mature enough to have followed the sentiment of this song, before my brother died in the military, and cancer robbed me of my my mother... All I have now is a 14 yr old faithful furry who saved my soul as much as I allegedly “saved “ him from dog shelter euthanasia. This song and beautiful sentiment is fully pertinent to his life too. I tag along with him, and vice versa... pals to the end, which tearfully is coming soon. Whether it’s him, or my now “packed and gone” big brother, or my supernaturally wonderful late mother... the least i can do now is walk slower and attentive with the furry. The words and the heart applies. Love those who mean something to your life NOW... instead of sad regret when they go. Thanks for your spellbinding legacy, RIP Mr Lightfoot... you are missed, with other ppl loved.
I've seen Gordon 4 times in Huntsville, Alabama and met him twice! He has been a great influence and my hero since I was a young man back in the 70's. God bless and keep you Gordon! David Barr
I love this song 😢❤.

Pure Magic .
Well. That was very cool. He looks good, sounds good and I'm glad these videos keep popping up, although sometime I'm going to have to get back to work. Thanks, you all for the post.
Ever excellent, and poignant now that he passed away last night. Big influence on me and mine since 67.
Well done Gord, may you rest well, your songs will never be forgotten.
My favorite GL song, has been for decades. World class. Well done, Mr. Lightfoot.
Gordon you are the Canadian poet l remember from my youth.
CANADIAN DIAMOND 💎 😍
What a life. Wonderful! How much you HAVE accomplished . You are one of a kind.
Real and heartfelt. Thanks Gord!
What an incredible songwriter and musician 🎉RIP
J. P. picket not only a song writer, but a good man as his idol!!! They both are my idols!!! Men of music!!!
My dear departed Trina loved this
The Master... Wish I had been there...
Seen him for the first time in Glasgow Scotland...seen him since here in Canada.....The Master..
One of my favourites....
Oh have listened to him since 1970’s
We are witnessing probably, the most significant musical Canadian artist, in a sense, the faithful keeper of the Canadian story. Unrivaled. IMO ...no better example of the craft of concise “Folk” song authorship.
this bring a lump in my throat and s tear in my eye i guess il try

Me too Tsukamaki. And I'm hearing my personal invitation, too. Mr Lightfoot, if you're still willing, I would love for you to tag along. I need a friend. Thanks for sharing all that you do, and you. Much love, Jacqiu

It isn't just about his voice. Sometimes you need to appreciate what lies under. There are stories that made history. I know I could never come close to doing fraction of what he accomplished. The man was a gift to so many and will contine to be. He stuck to his roots and did not sell out his country. Canada was first and foremost. He was a proud Canadian and we are very proud of him.
