The imagery this song evokes has been stuck in my head since I was a teen in the 70's. Unforgettable work of art.

A masterpiece IMO, and the very best song on the Sundown album. I saw Gord in concert every November at Massey Hall from 1976 to 1990 but I don’t think I ever heard him do “The Suite” live until now. Thanks!!!!

We heard him perform it at Tanglewood in the mid 70's. Unquestionably my favorite Lightfoot song. Talk about a painter using words! Reminds me of the best summers of my life spent on a Maine lake. The vivid beauty of autumn on a northern lake makes international borders immaterial. Pure genius by Lightfoot!

Indeed a masterpiece. I used to drive up to Massey Hall for the November shows from NJ, where I lived. Not as much as you but if you were there in '79, I was at one of those shows. I never heard this live.

A rare live version of a great tune from the Sundown album. This and “Is There Anyone Home” are beautifully crafted songs that he rarely, if ever, played live. Thanks for posting this!

There are so many Gordon Lightfoot songs that rarely, if ever, got the recognition they deserved. "Is there anyone home". Is certainly one of those.

I love this song but I can't even begin to say what my favorite song of his is... they're too many. I've been a fan of his since I was a teenager. We've lost a true master but he has left us so many master pieces. Rest in Peace Gord...Montana loves and misses you

It seems like this great song cries out for a choral arrangement . . . but I can’t seem to find one, anywhere! Anybody know of a choral arrangement or performance?
