My father, active on the front line for the last year of the war, was quite well-read on the subject and had seen most of the movies and TV shows made on the subject. He lost close friends there, of course, and always talked about it very seriously. Until 'Allo 'Allo came along. That show reduced him to tears almost every episode - he was often laughing helplessly at something. I don't know what he saw in France, Belgium, Holland or Germany from 1944 to about 1948 (when he was finally allowed to go home) that so chimed with this series, but it was something. Thank you, Gordon and the others, for the many many laughs. From me and, especially, my Dad. Good on ya!

I first saw Gordon Kaye on the few episodes of are you being served? he appeared in. I then first saw Allo Allo on a shelf in my local library and saw that David Croft produced it. So decided to borrow it I thought it was so good I subsequently purchased every season of Allo Allo on DVD. I have this interview as part of a special features part of the second season of Allo Allo on DVD. I also liked Terry wogan's informal method of interviewing he was a good television personality as well now both Gordon Kaye and Terry Wogan are not around their work will live on and the memories of them. r.i.p. Gordon Kaye and Terry Wogan.

No, you have to remember Wogan from 1985 when it started until 1991 was recorded in the BBC Television Theatre, which was a theatre, not a proper television studio. So the noise you hear is the team preparing the music area for the singer. There wasn't the same amount of room than they would have had if it was produced in BBC Television Centre studios. Wogan moved to Television Centre in 1991 when the Television Theatre closed down.

@@RossPatzelt It's original name is the Shepherd's Bush Empire. Opened in 1903. The BBC purchased it in 1953 and converted it into a television theatre. The BBC decided to leave the theatre in 1991, when they concentrated all their television work in London into just two bases - BBC Television Centre and BBC Elstree Studios. The theatre went back into being commercially owned and is still open today known as the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire, a large music venue.

I knew that nowadays this series would be impossible. Interestingly it was created by people who actually experienced ww2 and did it. So what is happening that younger people tend to be so overly fun free and know better. The end of sarcasm and Good Comedy. You can tell that all stereotyping is done in a loving way if you might say so. It’s not about really dissing or discriminating completely anyone not even the German characters. For me it’s a symbol of peace and reconciliation. It’s anti war in comedy way. Brilliantly done as I think only the British can do so well..
