Howdy Bob. I ordered the Volta, Media Mod, Suction Cup and various other accessories about a week ago. It all arrived today! 😊I've been fiddling with it for most of the day and having a good old time. Your tips have been very helpful, especially about unplugging the Volta cable from the GoPro when not in use. Thanks.

@@BobEarnshawMoHo Yes indeed Bob - i think with your GoPro sub, you can pick them up at same price as standard GoPro Hero 9/10 batteries, at £19.99 I got 2 of these and coupled with the Volta, you are totally guaranteeing a full days filming, I am looking forward to testing this theory while on holiday.

My GoPro is always overheating but I really found this interesting. Thank you for sharing.

I tend to use mine only on 1080p without a problem. It does get rather warm on 4k though.

Thanks, interesting to hear your thoughts on the Volta. Do you ever use your Rode GO mics on your GoPro?

All the time, especially at shows.

Got mine yesterday . Have the camera media mod already, but changing batteries was a real pain . I did get a great discount on their site,£36 off well worth the subscription

Hi Bob! This is a useful video about the Volta for the Go Pro. I am using a Go Pro 11 and I am learning how to use the Volta. You discuss its battery here - 14:35 . Here are some important questions: 1. Can you use the Go Pro 11 the with power coming solely from the Volta's battery while the battery compartment of the Go Pro 11 is left empty? Have you tried that? I tried it and the Go Pro 11 kept getting powered off automatically with the message that there was "no battery." 2. What if you fully charge the Volta and then not use it for a week? Would its charge still remain? Or, the lack of use would drain the Volta's battery? I fully charged the Volta. And a week later, when I wanted to do hours of filming, it came up with the message, "no battery" due to what I mentioned in my first question. These are vital concerns that you might have encountered when you made this video. So, it would have valuable if you had discussed those problems. There are too many reviews of the Volta. And none of them really do justice to this device. (12 July 2023).

Thank you, I'll try and answer your questions, but I'm not a GoPro expert, just someone sharing my experience so apologies for not addressing your issues! The GoPro will run without a battery, but you need to connect the Volta to the Gopro via bluetooth before connecting the Volta via USB, so it's a bit impractical to do that. So it's not something I'd do as the main benefit for me is the extra battery capacity. The volta does lose capacity when not used for days, I guess there's something live in there.

Been missing your reviews Bob, and this one made me look in more detail at what was needed. Not for me right now as it’s not compatible with my Hero Black 7 and that upgrade is some time off. One thing you could address which would help with future planning is you talk of all day filming. I understand how this is made possible by the longer battery life, but what size SIM card are you using for all day filming, and are there any problems with download speeds when you have finished filming? Thanks.

I'm not filming constantly you understand, but using it intermittently all day, I find that a 128gb SD card lasts the same time, all day.

I have a Volta and a GoPro 10 when I received it connected with my GoPro and worked,but now for some reason it does not connect and does not recharge my GoPro battery.The battery charging symbol comes on,though it’s charging and then immediately stops charging,and the mode button and the record button does not work. Can you help me thanks.I have done all that you have suggested, but unfortunately it’s still does not connect. Can you help me thank you.

No, the Volta is designed for the Hero 9 onwards.

I so wish this was available for the gopro max.....also in need of extra battery capacity. Hooefully they will bring one out in the near future.

I suppose you could use it with the Max just as a backup battery.

Yes good point.

Might it be a bit short , for vlogging you would have to keep your arm straight, if it extended like a selfi stick I might consider it, I do like the fact you can video for longer though

Yes, I don't do much selfie style videos, but at least with the GoPro, it's wide enough for occasional selfie. It helps if you angle the GoPro so that it's at the end of your arm.
