    WTF? is this a re-badged Hero 7 video? Very misleading header. Appreciate the detailed settings for nightlapse but the Hero 8 is a different beast when it comes menu settings and setup. There is a ready made 'preset' for nightlapse on the 8 (which you could tweak if needed). Would suggest changing the video title to better describe the content. Impressive clips though.

    Ceyda - Damn, you'd think after 6 months, somebody would have answered your question. If I knew the answer I'd help you out. In my videos(I'm a beginning in this stuff) I see streaks across the sky that look like shooting stars. They must be airplanes, though, because a shooting star only last a couple of seconds and the exposure is for 20 seconds, so the event only last may 1/8th or so of the frame. So, are shooting stars so fast that they cannot be seen in this type of video? Are those streaks I'm seeing airplanes? Hope someone can answer me....

It's easy to remove and does not leave any sticky residue left. It's amazing stuff! As for my GoPro, I use a weatherproof casing designed for continuous power made by 3br power (I think is called) X-PWR-H8 you can find them with a google search. Hope this helps.

    This helped me make a short video of the perseids meteor shower and it came out fairly well. The only thing here being the key word. Short. I had the camera going for about 3 hours which gave me about 9 seconds of video. I'm not a photographer by any means so I didn't realise that having such a long exposure time would equate to a much shorter video, it probably could be made a little clearer for the idiots like me what sort of effect exposure times have on your shooting for things like this. Otherwise it's a pretty foolproof guide and I look forward to capturing some more nightlapses with my GoPro, it's a fantastic bit of kit.

That's where I went wrong. When on timelapse mode, tap and hold on where it says timelapse, that will bring up your settings menu. There you can select nightlapse and all of the other various settings shown in this video.

    Why on their website does it say the 7 Black doesn’t have night lapse when I see videos like this on it? Im confused. Im not very tech savvy, this will really be my first camera, Im a mermaid, I plan to do some pool swims at night and my tail will be glow in the dark (ill be painting one with Lit pigment) and I just want to capture the nighttime magic, low light, glow in the dark light, moon & starlight.... do I need the 8? Or can I get by with the 7 black? I’d prefer whatever is more simple for me as a beginner to learn and to save more so I’m still leaning towards the 7 black bc friends recommend it.... but we may have different uses/needs. Ill check back again to see if you have any feedback.... loved your demo & music! 🌌🎶

    Becouse you get 1 frame every 60secs,but once you play the video its 30 frames per second. So, what you film for 30 minutes (30 frames you get) it is played in a second. You can put the interval on 30 seconds, so you get double the lenght. Keep in mind that if you are using shutter speed 30 secs, interval cant go lower than 30 shutter speed

    Your sensor is damaged then. You should contact GoPro for an exchange product. In my video you can also see one single blue dot because of a dead pixel. I might also ask for an exchange.

    I had my GoPro Hero 7 replaced because I had a lot of dead pixels. The GoPro Support wanted me to send them a bunch of pictures where it was visible and then they just send me an exchange item without further questions. I really don’t think that this is a software thing. Maybe they changed to cheaper sensors

    On my GoPro 6 when I do night lapse photo the seem grouped in one set. On my GoPro 8 the phots are individual and not grouped ( they each seem to be a one shot burst). How can I make the 8 more like the 6??

  • @marcusbonham

    @marcusbonham

    On the night lapse setup you can choose between video or photo. Video will give you a grouped file and photo will give you a lot of pics for you to work in post, which matters most in quality, it's on you.

    Marcus Oliveira I understand the difference between photo and video options. But when you do a photo time lapse and use the app, there are hundreds separate of images. Almost impossible to manage. On my Hero 6 the are all grouped together in one icon. What I’m asking is how do I get them together on the 8.

    @@marcusbonham this is what i dont understand because on the hero 7 there is no night lapse video option, only photo. so i setup my shoot for the full night and when i look at the footage they are all grouped together but when i hit playback , its not this smooth beautiful transition like his looks, its more like a slow slideshow of the individual photos. how do you get it to play fast thru them and show it like a smooth timelapse transition? ive seen people do cool videos of the highway with colors flying past and mine still just shows pic....pic...next pic...pic... i dont know how to edit that and noone shows the editing process.
