Thanks for the video. I’m new to all this and looking to log my hikes - the full hike for posterity. I have my iPhone but thought a dedicated camera would be better. I got a GoPro 12 I need a way to mount it so I don’t need to carry it. Videos like this help a lot!

Very nice.After watching many GoPro 10 reviews and comparisons I have found that a lot of people fail to notice the major bump in clarity because of the subtle local tone mapping (HDR). That alone is a reason to get the 10. It leaves all other GoPros far behind. Great video. Thank you for sharing, cheers, Maurits.

This is very informative with real world testing. I have a Hero 4 with 0 stabilization! I also have a DJI Osmo Action 1, but the Hero 10 looks amazing and might be my next purchase.

Thanks! there is a new battery out for the hero 10 that is supposed to fix the freezing problems but i have not tested it out yet.

I had some issues at 4K60fps on a fishing trip where my battery was at 54% and the GoPro would shut down after about one minute of recording repeatedly. It was a bit cold that morning. I ended up finding it too aggravating to use and missed a bunch of footage but had some great salmon fish. It would have been nice to be able to capture those moments of the 2nd day of our trip.

I watched another youtuber having this issue about camera shutting down when the batteries are below 30%, he then switched to the new GoPro enduro batteries and it fixed the shutting down issues.

Great video! Earned a subscriber! I just upgraded my primary camera to the 10. So far I like it but I get motion blur when its getting dark and the camera likes to not turn on at times, I have to hold the power button for like 30 seconds. I just started using the new Enduro batteries today... those are a game changer!

Great video! Got a new subscriber right here. I noticed in the shot where you were hiking up the mountain at 1:37 on the trail you can see the jitter of the ground from your climbing and elevation gain. This is something that I am trying to prevent. I was hoping the Hero 10 stabilization would be good enough to prevent that jitter. Currently, I use a Hero7 with Karma Grip Gimbal and you can see I get pretty decent (but not perfect) results for my channel. My problem is the Hero 7 is always freezing or randomly turning off on me. So much lately it's not reliable. I've tried all the fixes and nothing is helping. I would love to hear if you have any insight on this from your experience with the Hero 10? If you think it might be a good option worth checking out.

Hi Daniel, the jitter at that time frame was timewarp setting, it jitters in timewarp because of the uphill and I probably had the seconds set too long:) the stabilization is better than the 7 for overall recording on trail ad I've used both :)

What computer do you use (specs please) or do you use your phone with Quik? Thanks for a great video.

i really love the gopro action camera. but the only problem is the over heating but now am using a power bank.

Literally ordering mine today. Been going back and forth on 9 & 10; I'm shooting with a 7 Black now. So either is going to be a huge upgrade. Think it'll be worth it to go for the 10 straightaway.

Hey, thanks for the video! Did you ever manage to solve that annoying turn-off problem at 50% battery? And does it only occur when recording in 120FPS? I'm impressed by your footage and am thinking about getting one for similar purposes myself :) Would be a real shame if it was rendered useless by this behaviour though... Thanks again!

Get the Enduro, Dave ☺ I've got the Hero 7 Black and, yeah, I got the Hero 10. Massive (!) upgrade. Worth the money.

@@Davespates Sorry, let me specify a little more. The GoPro (at least the ones I have) will cut the video into 30 mins bits. So if you record 4 hours of footage, the gopro will give you eight 30 minutes clips. I tried stitching the 30 mins video together, but I then realised, there is a few seconds gap that was not recorded between these 30 minutes clips. Does the GoPro 10 have this issue?

i don’t know why my hero 9 shaking and blurry while trekking in the forest..already turn on hupersmooth.

What I see is that in 60fps the border of trees is still hatched at 1:02 The landscape at 1:05 is not smooth, one can see at 1:13 the light is blinking. In 5.3K everything becomes blurry. The bottom right part of the shot at 2:57 is blinking. Compared to the hero 9 it doesn't look like it pick up more details but only that it excessively increases contrast. No miracle, when we look for quality the GP10 is only an action camera and as you said, good for 4k slowmo.

Not sure? What's your sharpening setting at? The lower the less noise, the better lighting conditions, the less noise :)

Purchased my first GoPro last week. The 10. Headed to Machu Picchu next month. Can you help with the best settings. Supposed to be rainy season but hoping it’s somewhat sunny. Thank you and I subscribed

There's no such thing as best settings as best settings will change for different scenarios and need for composition from the creator. For general travel video though, if you don't plan on doing any color grading in a 3rd party software and just want to take good footage without spending hours of messing around with different settings to fit your needs I would choose, color profile - standard, stabilization max or boost, iso max 1600-3200 for rain forests, sharpening medium, EV -.5, FPS 24 for low light and bump it up all the way to 120 for slow motion and b-roll. If you want optimal control over color and overall video quality it gets next level, I've been doing photography for 10 years and video for 3 and still haven't quite figured it out yet and probably never will

I got a GP10 in Jan....and have no real complaints. I use the time warp feature in 4k I can usually get 90 minutes out of each battery.I have gotten more than 2 hours more than a few times. Dialing in the look I want took some practice...but my device is up to the task. I have 4 batteries and have exhausted 3 in a day only once. For the moment this camera is a nearly perfect device. My prior camera was the GP7...I still have it and use it also.

Sensor is small so low light quality is expected to be less than spectacular

“drained four batteries on an 8 hour hike… yikes, that’s a deal breaker for most UL thru-hikers. Will have to take a look at DJI Osmo.

This is in extreme cold and 4-5k filming, 1080p HD should increase this quite a bit although I havent tested it.

battery life is no good and probablly never will be. They sell enduro batteries which are a little better and the gopro battery stick if you need extended battery life.

In many tests the newest iphone will outperform the newest gopro in terms of contrast and sharpness. GoPro is more for the 'this is my dedicated camera im not afraid to drop or get dirty' hence the nick name 'action cam'. Also 1/3rd the price of the iphone
