Sora is currently only available to a small batch of artists. Those artists have given a fairly detailed account of their experience. Meanwhile, other companies are starting to demo 'competing' products (in regards to quality). You are right though that it's hard to say competitors when access to something is so small :)

And what of those creatives whose work was used to train data sets and then lose work to people using these creative tools to impersonate that very artists own style? Anyone who thinks AI is just a net win for all is deluded.

Assuming we can manifest the most understanding, sympathetic and forgiving AI aligned in our image, it seems that it would refuse to help anyone cause harm through acts of betrayal, so I can't help but think that subjecting it to United States military and political whims would be a pretty shitty thing to do.

I'm sorry, but the Google Veo neon city video is just a blurry Cyberpunk 2077 copy... you could barely call this AI-generated video it's so obviously a layer slapped on a real video. Same goes for the lighttower video, which is a famous REAL shot that existed even before Sora. This feels like they're pulling the wool over people's eyes and are exagggerating the capabilities... Sora's stuff is really impressive. Google's Veo? Not so much...

that is the problem because this stuff is marketing. Still need the pictures made or you're just making plagiarism copies of old material. If You don't have a good script and them images edited together with sound effects and tracks then it is just another montage video cut in iMovie made in 2006 reboot. I could Run MEL or Python scrips to create a whole 3d world in Maya. AI is just software on super computers Processing of Meta data of human patterns running old scripts. it's not magic Can copy and paste them old scripts real easy.

Worry about some person getting their feelings hurt while you erode the very free speech that made western filmmaking possible is pretty stupid. Clearly you are trying to pass the increasingly unpopular woke outlook into creative tools. This is a mistake both morally and from a business development perspective as your more open competitive software will wipe the floor with you. Google can become small now much faster than it grew large.

The guy on a horse does not look real at all, and it took me not long to notice all the problems. You keep hyping these things that are clearly very flawed.

From having animated horses before, I have a reasonably good familiarity with their skeletal range of movement. It looked pretty legit to me. Horses can and will "reach" for their next step (especially on redirection) just like you might do on uneven terrain. This may involve some body twisting and extending their scapula. Perhaps the slow mo, lower angle perspective, and turning of the horse is making it harder to read. Horse's ears come off a little mixed emotion. If anything, the various saddle straps on the sample tend to do a bit of that AI weirdness we've all seen before. Perfect? no, but still good enough for most people to bypass employing a production company or buying stock footage I'm guessing. They'll just edit around the worst problems like the Veo splash page did in this video.
