Google's Head of Behavioral Science on Why We Do What We Do? | Maya Shankar, PhD

Ғылым және технология

When people consciously choose something they tend to like it more, says head of Google's behavioral science, Maya Shankar. This phenomenon, known as the IKEA effect, applies to end of life healthcare experiences. When physicians give patients options, provide them with choices, and allow them to ask questions, they empower the patient to co-create a better end of life experience.

You left out GANG STALKING. People who study, analyze, stalk and make life difficult for their "victim". Th9se who study behavior have no problem participating in this activity for its under pretense that its for long term betterment of society. These behavioral scientists are thigs wearing bifocals n long coats. If you have no family, connections, credibility or are an x con, they MIGHT select you to "study". Morally corrupt, unethical, devious and conniving individuals seeking career advancement AT YOUR EXPENSE. F behavioral scientists.... With a rusty metal pipe➡️💯✔️👏

Sorry if I missed it but I don't think she ever gave credit to tons of research and experiments on "behavioral science/economics" by Daniel Kahneman ("thinking fast and slow") or Richard thaler ("nudge") or Dan Ariely ("irrational behavior") or many many other professors and scientists and psychologists (author - Rolf Dobelli - "Art of thinking clearly"). there's tons of material available (just search online). I don't think anything she talked about was outside of those known findings (since many years). I wish she had given relevant recognition to their work and given references to resources..

She doesn't have to reference them in her talk. Citing is especially Relevant in the case for literary work. Every speaker of a profession and key not speaker stands on the shoulder of numerous people who built the ground work. You just happen to be familiar with the work of behavioural economists. But in every talk for every field, be it nutrition , environmental science, technology etc, everything is built off others findings. It would be a different case if she wrote a book or published a paper without referencing where her work was coming from if at all it came from them. There comes a time as well when the work doesn't need even need mentioning. Are you going to mention Isaac Newton Everytime you explain why something falls? It's not necessary.

She mentions about being the first name on the ballot gets more votes which is funny, because on the ballot with Donald Trump and Joe Biden, Joe Bidens name was first and Donald Trumps was last, which I found so strange that I mentioned it to my family when I got home. I told them I would’ve thought the current President,(or anyone trying to get re-elected) should get the first position on the ballots.
