The Pixel 8 Pro seems very compelling with the new software features like the audio reducer and the video boost feature coming later in an update and Google’s announcement of 7 years of software and security updates starting with the Pixel 8 series is long overdue but very welcome.

@@scratch1200s I wouldn’t even touch Samsung but if I ever get fed up with the iPhone then the Pixel is the only Android phone I’d consider as I prefer the Pixel software experience and enjoyed my Pixel 6.

What's funny is that "Best Take" was a Google Photos feature from 10 years ago but it wasn't as refined. Glad to see it's back and perfected. Pixel 8 Pro really beats the pants off of iPhone 15 pro.

@@TyataBreathes I don't remember the name then, they just asked in Google photos if I wanted them to merge two photos where one had a person's eyes closed and the other wasn't smiling and it made a new pic with both of them with eyes open and smiling. You could see the edit wasn't perfect but they've evidently been at this for years

Who’s ready to use the temperature sensor to check their pan temperature? It’s actually what I wanted on a phone for years. Someone actually thought that was a good idea as a feature, oh man. And if this sensor doesn’t get approved by the FDA, that would be a slap in the face.

hopefully the tensor G3 and the slight increase in battery capacity won't be an issue for the pixel 8 as it can go from 60 to 120 hz . It's not ltpo variable refresh rate display like the pro., so eager to see how pixel 8 holds up. Also wondering how the tensor chip holds up overtime. I truly want the pixel line to do great , but in my opinion iPhones just overall are reliable and durable devices which might make me switch ,but I really don't but just need a true reliable phone.

Maybe i missed out while cooking, but i think you didn’t focus on the 7 years of OS updates, which increases the value of both phones immensely. And for former Pixel users, there’s a lot of Google software features only available on the 8 Pro that they will love to take advantage of.

7 year software matters only if phone's hardware keeps up over time, along with Google providing replacement parts through a multi year warranty program just like apple has a monthly apple care plan till the parts are available.

$999 is too much for a phone. A huge No No for me... I remember purchasing the Galaxy S3 for $500, the Nexus 6P for $400-500 and Pixel 6 & 7 for $500 - 600. Accounting for inflation $600-700 is a great price for a device today.

the 8 has some notable changes from the 7 in terms of the display, I suppose, but why the price hike for the 8 pro? 699 and 899 would've been fine. I don't understand the price change, and I don't know why Google suddenly thinks the 8 Pro is the same value as the iPhone 15 Pro

​@@collin.a.what? 7 Pro to 8 Pro has a massive change in hardware. Every camera was finally upgraded and the screen is now the best of any phone on the market. It basically doubled the brightness! That plus the support is enough to justify the price hike, in my opinion. Not to mention the natural inflation of pricing.

Agree, pixel 8 will likely be the most popular. Some nice upgrades and no price raise there. I am interested in seeing test results of that cloud video enhancement feature.

It's pretty hard to get excited here. I think we know, even without reviews, the Tensor will have thermal and battery life issues. Even if it's slightly better, it won't be enough. Then there's the signal issues that have plagued the line since the Tensor 1, likely due to the radio in use. They did right by putting the better qualcomm processor in the new Pixel Watch, but then failed to make a size that many people would want. I'm sure all of the software and AI stuff is cool, but they can't put all of their eggs in that basket and expect to increase sales. Many people have been burned by Google too many times.

Well, pretty much all of these issues have been minimized. Much better signal, very little heat issues, and battery is able to get through a day.

Thermal expansion and contraction. Those chips that suffer from this have already become more compromised than they would have been if the flaw didn't exist. You can't go back in time and fix what already occured.

hopefully the pixel 8 pro can check its own temperature. I get why they made the pixel watch in one size and small. They are targeting women. I know a fair share of nurses that had a fitbit so...

My pixel 7A performed like Pixel 8 pro after updating to Android 14 and far better than overpriced garbage Apple iPhone. Bring it on SHEEPS

The Pixel 8 Pro looks very compelling, but I'm going to err on the side of caution and wait a little longer to see what others are saying about the phone before I invest any of my own money to buy one. In other words, how the phone is performing in the real world, does it still have over-heating issues, battery drain issues, etc.? Pixel phones don't exactly have a great track record as the average consumer has encountered numerous issues with previous generations of Pixel phones, so it's best to take a "wait and see" approach. By contrast, I can buy a Galaxy or iPhone on day one but not with Pixel phones. I have serious trust issues when it comes to Google hardware

@@NizarNoor I currently have the 14 Pro Max, and I haven't experienced any thermal issues even with heavy use. I had the 12 Pro Max before this, and same deal. No issues with either phone. No, Apple doesn't get a pass but neither should Google or any other Android phone manufacturer

Google is just copying what Samsung does.
