@@romeokukita277 Sonic 3 and Knuckles actually got a port on the Didj (leapster competitor) that was literally just Sonic 3 but without lives, but if you died you had to answer a simple math problem and if you got it wrong you got an instant game over. If you got it right you instantly revived. Very bizarre. There was also an exclusive Sonic game on Leapster made for babies themed around the 4kids dub of Sonic X that used bizzare combo sprites from Sonic 3 and Sonic Advance and weird MS Paint original sprites. It was also Mike Pollock's first role as Dr Eggman in a video game since Sonic X on Leapster released a few months BEFORE Sonic Rush and Shadow the Hedgehog.

I feel like considering that a lot of newer sonic fans (from what I’ve seen anyway) are also not making sense when it comes to certain things it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if it was actually a human that made the thread For example 1. I’ve seen people try to claim that sonic characters and dragon ball Characters have nothing in common 2. I’ve seen people try to claim that fan fiction is canon but I’ve also seen people try to claim that fan fiction real as in irl 3. Theirs also the fact that a lot of newer fans don’t seem to realise how old the franchise is or the age range of the fan base so you end up with really questionable opinions on the timeline of sonic related things mainly from younger people and then they get mad when someone older than them or has been a sonic fan longer than them calls them out on their BS only to then try to gaslight people into believing things like oh sonic went super before goku and stuff like that 4. Theirs probably more but I can’t remember because I’ve seen so many incorrect opinions that honestly I kind of give up sometimes (Sorry for long comment)

Agreed to some extent, I think we should all keep watch just in case Google accidentally starts a Terminator style Robot up rising or something. But I don't think AI in particular is bad, because, like anything else we've made, it's ultimately a tool. And a tool doesn't determine how it's used, a person does. Can confirm that the Sonic Boom photo is an AI “enhanced” photo. Other characters have been removed and these strange clouds are in their place. They even edited out part of the ACTUAL clouds that were behind him. A shadow (not Shadow, a shadow) was cast on Sonic in that image and now that has weirdly been made lighter. And yes, this is 2014, not 1993.

Dude I can’t stop laughing. “Ok, short king” is going to be my new favorite catchphrase.

At first I didn't think it was written by AI because none of the pictures were AI generated. But after Arlo went through most of the thread, it dawned on me that they might have just used some kind of API to pull images from an official sonic screenshot database (You wouldn't want any chance of pulling from deviantart). And just told it to write a quippy line commenting on each post and Sonic's progression through the years. That is exactly what this sounds like. Sonic goes 3D again? There had not been a prominent 2D release in a long time at that point. He was just staying 3D. It's just such a weird thread.

I dunno this just all feels like a joke playing off Sonic fans' propensity to correct people and argue online. These don't seem like the kind of mistakes GPT would make, usually it's pretty good at describing past events because it can basically copy Wikipedia. Plus, the fact that literally every single one is wrong points to it being a joke. If one or two of the descriptions were nonsense and the rest were just boring but true summaries of the history of Sonic, I'd be more inclined to believe it was AI. I'm not some big AI cheerleader but to me the inaccuracies here don't line up with something you'd expect from AI generated content. The flaws of AI generated text tend to be that it's repetitive and derivative, and it gets the little things right for the most part but falls apart when you consider the large-scale structure.

Sonic also is _technically_ a "short king," isn't he? I mean, there's no official height chart, but Sonic X and the first live action movie both depicted him as _smaller than a human CHILD._ I don't remember if there were any kid NPCs in Sonic Adventure, but the adult humans kicking around Station Square were also taller than Sonic, if I recall. It's possibly a weird in-between, but you could be right.

thing is, there's enough Google Play products featuring Sonic you could have made an actual List & promote your AppStore, but that would require a human that actually gets paid

What's even weirder is that AI hasn't been this bad in a while. If you ask chatGPT to do this exact thing, it would do a much better job. Maybe google is working on a more primitive in-house AI and is using their twitter account with 7.5 million followers to test it out?? That's even more baffling. I have no answers. There’s some models that have begun a process of “inbreeding” since there’s so much AI garbage content online that they’ve begun to scrape content that’s not made by humans. The results are the programs getting worse and worse, going back to incomprehensibility since they’re pulling from content that was already pretty nonsensical.

Even without AI inbreeding there's some people who put a single obviously wrong fact into written works online now just to trip up AI. The humans reading it and know it's a joke, but AI takes it as fact. It's the modern equivalent to map makers making up a town just to catch people who copy their stuff.

If it's AI it's just adding fuel to the fire that we should not be replacing real human beings entirely, if it's not AI it just shows that they have no idea what they are talking about and do not care. Either way, this is about as soulless and corporate as it gets.

If this is AI-made, then the most insidious part is that they didn't disclose that. Companies lying about things being made by humans is where a lot of the distrust comes from, and this isn't helping.

I love it when media people fail to accurately portray game media. Especially in TV shows. It’s so funny to just go “YOU ARE SO WRONG.”

It might actually be a human, because in 2020, Google Play tweeted a "Guess That Song" post where it had footage from Sonic 1. But the music wasn't from Sonic and it DIDN'T EVEN EXIST

The worst part is getting all this wrong gets them so much more engagement than a thread that was fully accurate and had effort put into it

6:51 the part that hurts me the most as a Sonic fan in specifically THAT post? They call 2020 a "strange year" and to leave it behind ("let's leave it at that"), when 2020 was actually a resurgence year for the franchise with the first Sonic movie being one of the best products in the entire franchise and revitalizing a ton of hope and mainstream goodwill towards it. While for the average folk it was indeed a rough year, for the Sonic FRANCHISE it was a VERY GOOD one. (Oh, and of course, for once the design match the year... but the frame does not)

(I haven't fact checked this myself, so take this with a grain of salt.) Apparently, Google Play has been making these sonic posts since 2020, before AI was popular. This just confirms that aliens are real, since no human being is that disconnected from society, even after being told numerous times they were wrong.

@wesshiflet2214 I don’t know, when it comes to dates and events AI tends to be extremely oblivious to what the numbers actually mean. I’ve seen a search engine recap AI that was adamant the Great Depression was 10 years ago because it subtracted 1939 and 1929; when it comes to these glorified pattern recognition woodchippers, confusing the dates of Sonic games isn’t too far fetched. It’s just a surprise that no one vetted what it said imo
