It worked brilliantly. I ran into an issue at first where after the URL's populated in the spreadsheet, when I clicked on any of them it gave me an empty error page which stated "Resource unavailable". Figured out afterwards though that I forgot to ensure that "Edit after Submit" option in Settings was clicked on. Did that and it worked perfectly. Thanks.

I have seriously been trying to figure this out off and on for over a month. I can get access to the script in a few places, but no clear instructions on how to use it. THANK YOU for this walkthrough. I can now generate these links just fine and not ask my team to copy the link and resubmit the form. One issue I had is that I had to copy the form identifier from the form builder/creator and not from the actual form link I send out. It may have to do with my G-Suite account being my secondary sign in on my browser. Thankfully Google Scripts showed me the error was happening there.

Ok. So this video is great start. The problem is the first response to the form seem to be the only data recorded. Even when you choose to edit your submission before closing the form (at the end of the form). I am not sure how that is helpful. I turned off "edit after submit" setting for now.

Hi @Melanie Atkinson To add a trigger, I give you 2 ways to reach the form's triggers from the Edit Form Script (at 5:10) 1. Click on Edit > Current Project's triggers. 2. Replace "/edit" by "/triggers" in the url of the edit form script link Then at the bottom-right you have a button "Add Trigger"

Thank you, thank you, thank you! It was a little tricky getting google to accept the script and then it didn't popular the spreadsheet with the urls after I initially ran it. But I ran it a second time and it worked like a charm. So again, thank you! My only gripe, it would seem to me that Google could supply us with a far easier way to get a link to re-edit a form without all of the steps you generously laid out in this script.

Rodney, I think I'm having the same problem as you did. After permissions allowed, and I run the script, google says: Invalid ID (line 2, file "Code"). The form key was simply copy and pasted. Any ideas as to what I did wrong?

Woo! It worked- that is amazing! People with "TypeError: Cannot find function setMilliseconds in object MSGS. (line 13, file "Code")" problems, I had the same issue. I had moved around my columns and had forgotten that the timestamp was the first column (that the form added). Once I moved that back to column 1 it worked beautifully!

thank you for this information; you will run into the same issue if you add rows at the top of the spreadsheet for downstream data entry or manipulation. in that case, you need to adjust the first row of the form column labels (hard-coded in loop to start at 1) and the first row of the data being posted (hard-coded to start at 2)

I work with a lot of EAL students and if I'm doing an extensive branched for for differentiated learning, where will the link take them, say, if they have completed 4 out of 7 possible sections? Hi, I came a cross the problem "TypeError: Cannot call method "getSheetByName" of null. (line 4, file "Code")Dismiss", then I went back to the video and noticed that I was creating the script on the form and not on the spreadsheet. Once I created the script on the spreadsheet it worked. Maybe that is your case as well. Hope it helps.

Thank you. Very helpful. And, can anyone help with the following?: I have multiple people completing (not collaborating on) different sections of the same form(s). The problem is that they do so in no particular order or sequence. That is, one person does not begin the process and then pass the form along to the next and so forth. The result of this is duplication of form(s), as each person essentially starts a new form. If I could generate the editable links to each form prior to sharing them with anyone and then share the editable links, that would be one solution. Perhaps there is a way to duplicate and connect forms initially and get the editable link that way?

Sir, other than amazing straight forward tutorial, I could not help to wonder how actually you managed to change the background of the form to image. Because as far as I'm concern, there's no option to do that except to change color which is also limited to the those being displayed in the customized theme pane. May I know how you did that, Sir? Thanks for this! I have used it multiple times on various forms. But I have one that I have done not one thing differently. It runs sometimes and sometimes not. I have a trigger when form submitted. That part works, but on this one form where I have this tied to resposes to get the edit link, I keep getting a "execution time exceeded". Any help would be great. This works great on every other form and sheet except this one where sometimes i get that error and sometimes not. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
