Here are the top things to do in Annecy, France if you have one day. Nicknamed the "Venice of the Alps," wander along one of the many charming bridges, balconies and canals. Stop by Le Palais de I'Île and Pont des Amours for those iconic instagramable shots. If you are the athletic type, rent some bikes at Yaka Pédaler and pedal 23.6 mi (38 km) around the majestic lake. It took over 3 hours with a coffee stop at l'abri cyclette. If you don't want to bust a sweat, for 18 euros you can take a relaxing boat tour with the Compagnie des Bateaux d'Annecy and still get those magnificent views of the lake and the French Alps.
For lunch we grabbed a Fresh Vegan at Sandwicae which had mashed chickpeas, mesclun lettuce, semi-dried tomatoes, avocado butter, pickled onions and black sesame. We also devoured the classic banh mi at Yin Ba. There is also boulangerie Aristide that makes excellent country bread. As for dinner, you can't leave the Alps without trying authentic raclette. At L'étage, we had our very own half wheel of cheese strapped to a device where the top slowly melted, allowing us to periodically scrape cheesy goodness on various charcuterie meats, pickles and potatoes. In our opinion, it was the best place to eat French raclette. If you need a break from French food, we recommend pizzas at the Little Italy. If you rather cook at home, you can find fresh produce seafood and meat at the Old Town Market ever Tuesday, Friday and Sundays from 7 AM and 1 PM. Annecy is definitely ranked as one of the best cities and destinations in France.
