It’s a great way of hiding a tight corner too. Not many of them in the real world but found that Crewe station offers the scenario I was looking for so loosely basing this part of the layout on it 👍

You have an impressive set up. I particularly like your point work at the approach to the station. Once fully sceniced that will make for some great video’s.

It will be interesting to see if you can hit your completion target but it's looking good so far. Those Metcalfe kits sure are addictive. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Can't wait for the updates. I have a question, it's a general question aimed at anyone. Q. When you have a large or even small fiddle yard, why do you not model the yard as a Carriage and Wagon yard so it forms part of the whole layout?

Good question and personally I don’t do this as most modern “yards” or storage areas in the real world would be operated by one company and would more often than not have just one type of freight in said place. So it would mean having 1 yard for GWR, one for XC, then a separate yard for each type of freight. Another reason for me is that I believe yards look much better when they’re around 20 tracks and only a handful have stock in them, again this is more realistic. These are just my views and it has crossed my mind that “the rest of the world” on any layout becomes a scenic area. Some people do this however it’s not for me. 👍

Looking fantastic! Really reminds me of Reading with the road underneath the end of the platform, always remember a model shop right on the corner before going under the bridge 😊 great progress and thanks for sharing, cheers Darrell

@@GoodfordModelRailway nice one , it must have been over 40 years ago and think it was called Eames they had a shop in KX too and I’m sure it had something to do with making nameplates ?

Dear Woodford Model Railway, great video like all the previous ones! If you can answer me: 1. What is the centerline, intertrack, for the Main Line? 2. What is the centerline, intertrack, for the substation (stagging station) tracks? 3. What is the centerline, intertrack, for the tracks in the station at the side of the platform? If you said this information in the video, not speaking English... but I write in Googlenglish... Thanks in advance and congratulations again, it will be interesting to see how your work progresses!

@@GoodfordModelRailway 1. “Centerline” = it is the central line of the track, if you have two parallel tracks the distance between the “Centerlines” is the intertrack that Peco, for Code 55, defined as 5.08 cm.; 2. “Main line” = it is the main line which is often double track; 3. “Staging station” = it is the hidden area, with several parallel tracks, where the trains alternate; 4. “Platform” = it is where passengers rest their feet when they get off the train. I'm surprised that a modeler like you didn't understand what I wrote; are common English terms for model railroading. Thank you so much!

@@CFFollis_Disabile_DOC thanks but i believe those terms would be American and not English. All track is Peco code 75 and the tracks are 5.08cm apart on the scenic section of the layout. I hope this answers your question.

What's the purpose of the short (25cm?) link between the main and branch line? It appears that trains can equally use the double slip beside it.

Very good question, I believe the thinking at the time is that all platforms are designed to be bi-directional so it means that if there’s a train on the far main line and it is running wrong line it can still run on to the main line and doesn’t prevent a unit running from the main line in to the far station terminating siding (linked to branch line). Hard to explain but if I remember I’ll bring it up on the next video 👍
