Good Rhythm - but how?

Спорт

Rhythm is a big word but what does it really mean in the Golfswing. Of course many Golfers can see that some players are just too fast, some are maybe decelerating to the ball and all of it, specially if you got the wrong order, can make the swing not working well even if its technically well done.
So what I mean by saying "Good Rhythm" you will see in this video!
Have fun watching and learning!

    They say don’t think at all when you make a golf swing but for some reason most amateurs think about a million things. A very long to do list and a very long not to do list. When I don’t think at all then my ball go very straight and very far but 30 to 40 degrees left !! Now, thanks to your video, if I think left shoulder down to the ball in the back swing and right shoulder down to the ball in the down swing then the ball goes straight and my tempo is also much better. Therefore I can say it works for me. Thank you very much. This is a great improvement for me.

    Well Lee, I am glad I could give you an idea for your swing and your tempo. Also for me it is a miracle how you can swing the club and hit the ball with a blank brain. Great players THINK the shape of the curve and this is how they guide the body. I don't know many great golfers, who don't think at all... So you are just right with having one thought! I love to get a thought in my set up, cause I know, if I don't manage a few things well here like my sternumposition, most of the other swing thoughts I have is not working either. Lee Westwood once said, he has some kind of box with swingtoughts and tries them out in the morning and which is working best, it is the one for the day :)

    I've been working on smoothing my rhythm with a tip I got a while back that really makes a difference. As an example, use whatever club you use for 150 yds & using your normal full swing, try to hit it 100. It's a little difficult to get used to but keep trying it. It'll slow you down & help with solid contact.

    Thats a good tip for slowing down and practise half shots. But you also gotta have a good rhythm if you wanna rip it! That was more my idea!

    Great tip, Martina. Regarding accelerating thro the impact, you made a brief mention of how it is incorrect to wait till the horizontal position of the shaft on the downswing and then whip it through. I’m one of those with this faulty move and my logic is that if we accelerate all the way from the top of the backswing, we lose control on the direction of the shaft. Shall appreciate your views please. Thanks

  • @martina_eberl_coaching_en

    @martina_eberl_coaching_en

    Well, it depends how much you accelerate... I would always choose a tempo on a scale von 1-10 in an 8 max. It's a fine line: there need to be some speed but I am not a fan of loosing control over your clubface. Because then it's going to be wild! Hope that helps!

    Just try with tucking in your right elbow and turn your left shoulder down towards the ball in the backswing. Remain your body-angle in the follow-through. If you have any questions, please watch some more of my videos - its a lot explained already!

    My trouble is that when I start my downswing and lowering my hands to get in correct swing path I will often drop my knees and end up stubbing the shot. Or, the Club head hits ground to early and I top the ball. Any tips?

    Well there is a good theory about squatting first but then you need to jump out of your squat. Not easy to do... Don't forget the weight shift, maybe that helps you with your low point!

    I'm a lefty too. Concentrate on keeping your left shoulder back & square to the target line. You must get your weight to your right side before you rotate or you'll hit it fat. Keeping the shoulder back will also prevent coming over the top & slicing because your swing will come from the inside & may produce a draw. Do this with short shots to start & gradually increase the swing length. Hope this helps. Lefties must stick together.

    I liked the more specific suggestion for rhythm by Danny Maude: 1 (upswing), and ( weight transition) 2 (downswing). You need to find some sort of ‘mantra’ that works for you. It helps to focus. Thanks, Martina, looking forward to see your next video.
