During self-isolation in these crazy times, I thought it'd be a fun idea to do "morning pages" style videos as soon as we wake up. An unfiltered (although edited) stream of consciousness over your morning cup of tea!
Head over to Carrie's channel for an daily video each evening.

I know I'm probably better off emailing this but I'd love to know the story of how you guys started dating. I love hearing couples' stories. I've seen a few romances start through theatre but you guys seem like such a well matched couple. Thanks for these videos by the way, love watching them before work in the mornings!

While I agree that this article has points that are not so great/the wording of them is off the part about different characters and their movement styles is actually really beneficial to me as I am legally blind so cannot see body language and movement. I so thank you for still reading it out, but Those points that you said were too much has really helped me. :-)

My singing teacher (she played Eponine and Christine among others) always says you should know a song technically before you add the story and emotion, but to expect your context to change your technical choices. For example, you may choose to use a mix instead of a belt because of the contextual elements. On the flip side, there are often contextual clues within the music that should inform your emotional choices.

When Carrie said she had a migraine, I had a migraine and I've seen lots of people mention migraines in the last few days online which I thought was odd, didn't realise there was atmospheric factors!

You laugh but I remember in youth MT "face the audience!" was a common reminder from the director haha - maybe the article is for younger amateurs!

That's exactly who I thought this was directed at, obviously not West End actors lol. I remember in school and our community theatre, there were constant reminders to face the audience or how exactly they needed to cheat out, etc. Seems basic, but probably the point of this list is to start with the basics.

I remember we were told to stand at an angle rather than directly face the character you were speaking to; not so much it looks unnatural but if you don't do it the audience just sees a side profile and can't hear you - seems surprisingly easy to forget about when people are focusing on their lines

I feel like the person that wrote that article was just thinking about the generic steps of acting. Like people always think of like oh I’m a tree or whatever and I feel like that person got a bit carried away with the stereotypes of acting😂

In August last year, I went up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with my amateur dramatics group and we brought a new musical up there but there was a song called Anger, and we were directed to do everything in that article 😅 but it was a really good and energetic song - at one point we had to stomp around the main singer while singing Anger in unison. I think that might have been my favourite song from the musical, it was so much fun to do!

This very much reminds me of my shakespeare and classical verse training. Something we did A LOT of what “discovery on the line” which basically reminds us that these characters speak to learn.

American TV is edited very differently to British TV, and is much more dramatic, especially reality shows and game shows. For example think about Hells Kitchen and other USA cooking shows versus The Great British Bake Off.
