GOOD CLOSE UP HABITS FOR EYESIGHT | Improve your vision naturally | EndMyopia Student

Good close up habits for eyesight! We talk a lot in EndMyopia about the importance of getting off screens and getting some distance vision in regularly. But what about when you have to do close up work? Reading, being on the computer, doing things on your smart phone or iPad. What then? Do we just right that time off as bad eyesight time and not worry too much? Not at all! Good close up habits can be a very helpful part of restoring good eyesight, and you certainly want to be careful that you are using your close up time well, for the benefit of your eyes. In this video I will give you my best tips for good close up habits for your natural vision improvement journey.

🤓 A little about my eyesight: 🤓
I have had glasses for astigmatism since I was 7 years old, but I only needed them for specific circumstances, like reading blackboards or night driving (not when I was 7, obviously).
At the age of 22 I landed an office job, and with my lovely new money I bought a smart phone. 6 months later, I had myopia (also known as short sightedness or near sightedness) and had to wear glasses full-time.
My prescription has been going up since then, and I have been freaking out as I sit back and watch my eyesight deteriorate, feeling helpless and scared.
I was up to -3 in my left eye, and -2.5 in my right eye when I discovered Jake Steiner and the EndMyopia method.
I am still only a few months in, but already I am seeing at almost -2.00 in my left eye -1.75 in my right eye. Small changes, but any improvement is amazing when my eyes have only been deteriorating for the last 10 years.
I am loving knowing more about eyesight and how eyes function. It's fascinating, and learning so much feels empowering. I love that I no longer feel helpless about my vision. I have also quit my smartphone so I could get over my screen addiction. I even bought a Nokia to get me out of temptation's way! Since doing this, I have been making progress with my vision, but also have regained so much of my life and time and perspective, so this vision journey is definitely having positive knock-on effects in my life as a whole.

It is close up that takes your refraction down - in the first place. Wearing a minus lens, just moves all work closer. That minus does make recovery extremely slow, at best. Gem, I admire your efforts!

I've found that, despite having to sit at my work computer for 6 hours (with breaks), after I leave work and put my normalised glasses on, I can see much clearer than I do in the morning. Gemily thank you very much for your videos, this one in particular. I'd say it is very EM-lightening ;) ... I have been with EM for a year or more but it seems I haven't improved even a little, which is quite depressing and embarrassing in front of people around you who are non-believers about myopia reversal. I have seen your earlier videos where you talk about your own improved vision and systematic reductions that you have done. I'd like to know where are you in your journey - how long it has been and an overall reduction of how many diopters? I am a believer, but I'm sure I've been doing something wrong which is why I haven't improved at all. Kindly EM-lighten more if you can, what I may be doing wrong in the process. I will really appreciate any inputs from you. Thank you, once again! Cheers :) - Pritish

Hi Gem, I know you do not believe it, but I check my Snellen and REFRACTIVE state myself, because I do not trust the standard habitual over prescription. One person here, posted a -2 D prescription. When he checked his Snellen, he could read the 20/40 line. This is where I wore a +2 d, for all close work, and got from 20/30, to 20/20 range. The plus lens, gets rid of the effect of 2 years of close work. People and Jake complain.about the close work. Then they do nothing about it! Then they want an OD to do everything for you.

I get a 15 minute break in the middle of my 4 hours of work in the morning. Then I have an hour lunch and try to spend 30-40 minutes outside. Then I have another 15 minute break in the afternoon. Then after work I try to get outside right away for anywhere between 15-45 minutes or more. This works well for me. Weekends are great for 3 hour long activities outside or driving and doing errands to get distance vision time.

@sutnev7970 Also, I wear weaker lenses, so I see just the slightest blur. I also wear lenses for working on a computer that are much weaker so I see a small amount of blur. For me, that is about 1.75 weaker than my distance glasses. I wear about -6.25 for distance and -4.50 for computer and other close-up activities. It takes time and effort to get started and choose the right lens strengths. When I started, I made mistakes and wore lenses that were too weak, and things were too blurry. Jake Steiner and his Endmyopia KZread and Website are such a good resource. I follow what he says to do. I hope I can learn to keep up good habits and minimize bad habits so I can see significant improvements and get down to -5.00 from -6.25.

Hello Gemily! So recently I've been able to see things slightly clearer now after about a month of distance vision and active focusing. My left eye which is my weaker is able to see slightly clearer now while my right eye which has a -1 cylinder prescription is still the same. However, I still am unable to get reduced lenses by any means. My qn is, do I just go without my spectacles or do I still wear my full 20/20 prescription? Also what do I do about my non-lens induced astigmatism? It is in the eye with no spherical prescription. I read some articles on endmyopia and it can't can't reversed?

Hi, hope u ar great. I want to ask something. So a few days back I went to the eye doctor and asked to measure my eyesight. Though I couldn't see anything on the Snellen chart I still managed to read the 3 line ( one of the reason I think is I had cilliary spasm back then so I thought perhaps that's the reason I can't see better). Then the doctor game me -2 for both eyes which were previously -2.5 for right and -2 for left. Now after using this for a few month I saw that my previous glasses ar too sharp for me but gives me crystal clear vision wheareas this new glasses gives me a slightly blurry line. So I want to ask am I doing this right?

So only a diopter, but I have optometrist verified improvements, and I i have had some time off to write my Masters Thesis. It is such a big difference - I went from not being able to find my glasses without my glasses and having to put them on as soon as I woke up, to being able to function fine without them around the house if I want. Double vision is part of the improvement. It's gonna take years to eventually get to "perfect" eyesight. So don't just expect to get all the progress and improvement without putting some thinking effort into it and don't expect everybody to have all the answers for you. Plus, you're only doing it for 10 days and probably incorrectly, so give your eyes a bit of a break maybe and actually try to relax them, then it'll probably get better eventually

I've been very loosely following Jake for like 3 years (totally a back-burner thing, as I'm sure it is for many procrastinators), and the big question I've come to is this: when I get to the eye doctor for the new glasses that I need (current ones are 27 years old and I accidentally modified the shape when I had to resurface them), how do I ask for a second prescription for 3ft/1m glasses for working at the desk? Are optometrists willing to do this? And the same question goes for reducing diopters gradually. Will the doctor look at me like I'm a nutter?
