Gong Li Quan Form & Combative Concepts

Ойын-сауық

Gong Li Quan meaning “Power Fist” is a famous routine in Northern Shaolin and is the second routine of the ten fundamental Chinwoo routines. It teaches beginners how to correctly master the posture of various stances and hand techniques such as fist, palm and hook.
This form demands sturdy and proper postures with firm stances. It also requires precise release of strength. Shifting of stance has to be quick and agile, but still maintaining stability. It is good for strengthening the arms, developing waist muscles and improving stances .

Grasshopper, the Gongli Quan has its own concepts, reasoning, and application. These are readily available (albeit mostly in Chinese), the Jingwu tradition would have taught most of all that. So, really, there's no need to diverge into myriads of "interpretations". For "interpretations" it is best one invents one's own forms - at least one, hopefully, would know what his own take is all about. If a form is open to any and too many "interpretations", the ancient man with that long flowing white beard says best not to learn it. It just does the poor head in before that thug down the road from the school of no school does you in. Dude, Northern Shaolin moves are flowing and "threads" the Qi. It is not like Karate, chop, sock. Don't lean forward so much from the waist. And those lovely legs need loads of work... Best!

@@martialenlightenment4994 I have only done me about forty five years of the martial arts, hence, by the standard of the old man with the flowing white beard, I'm not ready to "showcase" anything. Give me, maybe, another twenty or thirty years. Maybe forever. One of my teachers was actually a leading disciple of Zhao Lianghe and Chen Zizhen both with close knowledge of the Gongli, among other closely related forms, some adopted by the Jingwu. The teacher said if one doesn't know enough of a form, then don't learn it - doing one's own "interpretation" will do the poor head in with the wild guessing and DIY stuff. I save a lot of money and not nurture stupidity that way. Btw, if I "showcase" my stuff, it won't be you getting fed. Grasshopper, you need to juggle the wok yourself, cook your own dinner. And earn your own indigestion...

@@martialenlightenment4994 Frustrations are blessings. Recognising the value of frustrations = even bigger blessings! No frustrations, no obstacles = no need to work harder and improve = getting nowhere in reality. The mountain behind the mountain you've just "conquered" is even higher. What blessed fun!
