It has been a crazy mission to get this set made but so happy it is finally here for everyone.

Beautiful, well thought out gong fu tea set! Although commonplace, my preference would be for white cups to see the actual color of the brewed tea. As an artist, I use only white porcelain palettes to mix my colors on. Nothing else will give a true assessment. As pretty as your pale jade cups are, the user may miss the full picture.

How come this is no longer available

Just received my guru II: gorgeous copper water catcher and bamboo box. Everything has its place, and love my water buffalo! Two little things: glass pot had a crack on its lid, and bamboo box splinters (very small, at exterior corner of wet tray) after 2 uses while wiping with a paper towel. But: excellent service: within 24 hours of my email, Annie wrote she’s sending me a glass pot replacement! Thank you! The water tray I’ll keep an eye on, but at the moment, the splinter isn’t a big problem yet. It’s a real pleasure to use, and I never thought I’d love the metal plate so much (looks better in real life). Keep up the good work and see if you can improve the bamboo a bit more! Thanks!

Ok I had to pause the video before you opened the box, because I want to express my appreciation in your eye for high-end detail. I have my Gong Fu Guru as B-Stock from of the last in the shop. I am very happy with it. Some discussing about the price. I think that Don made this is awesome. He did it his way. It is not without risk to produce it in China. My opinion is that the price is not too high. Some think this in forums. The stainless steel plate is very thick and heavy. Innovation and small quantities has it price. I think the same about the Gong Fu Story. I want also this backpack in spring. The Gong Fu community can be proud of this geeky tea couple from London ;-) They give us many.

Just a little idea (although you have probably already though of it): produce and sell Yixing teapots in the same size as that with the Gong Fu Guru, but in slightly different colors (more red, more brown, etc.) so those who are as picky as I am may use different pots for different teas - curing each specifically for the select tea.

We could certainly find other natural Zisha colours and make some pots - we are thinking of doing some smaller ones for more personal sessions.

Wow. I've been wanting to get into this type of brewing. I find tea relaxing and am looking for something new to experience. Maybe Gong Fu brewing is the way to go.

Please put up an option where we can buy just the dry storage and the water catcher only or have customized accessory options. I love your dry storage and your water watcher is the most beautiful and practical I have ever seen hands down. But I have my own tea cups and the Yixing pot is too big and I would like my first to be a dragon egg Yixing I adore dragon egg shapes. I know I’m annoying in my pickiness. That tray is a thing of beauty and well worth the trouble! I have to say though, while I've been eyeing the gong fu guru for a while now I really don't need the included tea ware. I love the tea tray and would gladly buy it on its own but especially after recently buying a new handmade Jian Shui teapot I really can't afford to spend the added premium for the extras.

Understand about the teaware (although an extra couple of pots is never a waste!). We have received quite a few requests to sell the tray separately. Since this Guru has been ordered and assembled as a set we are not planning on splitting up the product but maybe on future batches.

Beautiful, well thought out piece of kit. Only minor bug bear is that it has no carrying case or handle for transportation. That being said, I'm still hoping to buy one asap.

White is always good, so we can judge the colour & the clarity of the tea liquor. Why don't you make another version of GongFu Guru with that tulip cups, Mr.Don?

I really love the style of this tea tray BUT is there a slightly chance that you also going to sell a "down sized version" (sorry can't find the perfect word for it). Because I already own quite a view teapots, cups & co - so I would only need the wet area tray part with the stainless steel filter - that's it. I am sure many have the same problem. Because the actual tray really looks stunning and I would love to own one but I really do not need the rest - so it would be awesome if you just could produce a version one only with the wet tray, the awesome copper style inlay and the stainless steel filter which fits in the gap. PLEASE :)!

I have been wanting to get a Gong Fu Guru set for so long!!! I am new to this style of tea, but I have been faithfully watching all of your videos and learning for the past 8 months. I have an old glass tea pot and some old cups of the western style that I have been attempting to use in the Gong Fu fashion (a bit unsuccessfully.) I have been holding off on buying a set or individual pieces so I can get the Gong Fu set. Do you expect that they may be back in stock in 2018? If not, when might they be available in 2019? The material is Ru Yao which has very fine cracks in the glaze. As you use the cup the tea liquor begins to colour the cracks in a really beautiful pattern. Read more at chinalifeweb.com/shop/product/cl-gfcp/192/ and click the second picture to see the pattern.

Thanks Don. I've really been enjoying your videos. You have been my primary instructor on tea drinking. Great, informative videos with wonderful character. Keep it up. Edit: How would you recommend keeping water at the right temperature while brewing gongfu style? Other than an electric kettle. I thought about getting a thermos but that seems like a lot of work to access every time I want to pour. Do you know of a product that is easy access and will keep water at a reasonably consistent temperature?

How come you decided not to include a gaiwan?

Gaiwans are a little more specialised to use and we wanted the Guru to be a kit for everyone. But there is plenty of space in the teaware tray to add your own Gaiwan.

Really nice video, great tea set. Personally I like traditional designs more and for me metal tray give the noise that is very annoying so I would prefer to have the bamboo part even if it needs replacing after some time ;) I love the dry teaware part and the kind of material you choose for the Gong Dao Bei and the tea cups :) What wasn't mention in the video and matters a lot in my opinion is also the color for teaware. I really like the look of some dark cups but problem with them is that you can't really enjoy the beautiful color of tea in those. Anyway - great tea set and it's very nice that you included this cute buffalo tea pet in it :)

Thanks and we understand that the designs are a matter of preference. The noise of the metal was something that we worried about before trying it but we have no issue with this and love the solid feel of the metal. Yes dark cups are pretty but we always want paler interiors so that you can appreciate the colour of tea too!

For more than half of the video I sat thinking about one question I was going to ask, and it got partially answered right at the end. I was going to ask if you should just pour out the tea wash, and dry it with a paper towel, or if you should rinse it as well. That part you did answer. But a new question arose: Why is tea staining bad? I get leaving the wash over night can be quite disgusting, but naturally staining it through heavy use... I would love the look of it :) (Just like the tea cups show "the journey").

We have stopped making the Guru despite continued demand because it was not cost effective and we wanted to do something new for Teaheads. We will probably be launching another tray this year.

What a nice set. I just wish there was a cheaper option.

It seems really nice and it's great to see that you care so much for the quality of your products as you do with the quality of the teas but the tray being metal looks really odd in my opinion. It should be wood or something stamped or painted so it looks like wood. Or alternatively the tray could be metal as well so it all matches.

We did make the wooden ones first and they are beautiful but we have totally fallen in love with the metal and enjoy the combination of bamboo with laser cut metal - it feels like the right combination of traditional and modern for us. Of course this is all a matter of aesthetic opinion.

Have you considered making a travel sized bag for the teaset? I feel it would be great to be able to sling it on my back during a hike so as not to burden my arms. Also, I'd love to know whether or not you are going to make more personalized sets and whether you will have an alternative tray set with the plastic drawer and hose. This looks beautifully made and I'm glad they are manufactured independently instead of mass produced. It looks like a lot of passion and care went into making the set, bravo.

This set is probably a little too big for bringing on a hike but we have put it into carrier bags and taken it out with us. We were considering doing personalised sets but was not sure there was enough demand really. The plastic tray and hose idea is a good one and we may add this feature in the future.

Wow that's amazing. @.@ Also, I have a cute plastic cup that I use to hold things, like my spoons or strainer if I'm using my sugar skull teapot. XD It's an Alice in Wonderland design, I'm really obsessed with cute things. XD

While I was watching the other videos seeing this rose color of the water-catcher I was thinking "oh wouldn't be great if it was copper?" .. and actually it is! Great! Regarding the cups, is there another reason beside esthetic because you didn't choose white? I would like to have at least a surface to see the right color of the liquor... no?

The metal catcher is rose copper electroplated stainless steel. We did consider white cups but we wanted a Gong Dao Bei and cup combination that would work with the Yixing clay and the glass and felt that the white porcelain was too 'basic without much texture or luxury feel compared with these Ru Yao porcelain wares.

What I've found cleans tea stains very easily and it's not very abrasive is regular toothpaste.

Resins or automotive clear coats should work just fine. Hell even aqua gloss would probably work.
