    I just installed one on my 24 Sierra Denali, That dam thing drove me crazy. On my 2018 SLT they called it a hybrid, had a huge battery and the start stop just shut the vehicle down and it was like it held it in a pause mode, when I let off the brake it just went again, no starting. 2021 GMC AT4; put the switch that goes behind the center console two years ago. For me it was a safety concern, I pull up to a stop (usually for a right turn) then the truck shuts off when I want to make the turn and accelerate. If your trying to merge into traffic with a vehicle that cycles off then has to restart? There are many right turns with merging lanes in my area with a vehicle that shuts down ain't fun.

    I’m going to go out in a limb here and say that all that unit is doing is making the Battery Load Management system think there is too large of a load to allow the auto start stop system to shut down. Whether or not this has a negative effect on your battery or alternator I wouldn’t know but I would personally avoid messing with a system like your charging system especially if you venture out far with your truck like some of us do.

    All it need to do is reduce the voltage during startup, the rest of the time it can give the system the full battery voltage. The vehicle is looking for enough voltage during startup to confirm that the correct battery / a good healthy battery is installed. All it does is trick the system into thinking that the battery is not rated for fast startups required by the auto stop-start system.

    It seems like a great alternative to the little harness you plug in behind the dash. The only concern is that they don’t mention anywhere on the site what their module is doing to override start/stop. So how is a consumer supposed to just put their trust in this individual blindly that it won’t negatively impact other systems on the truck?

  • @roberthenry9319

    @roberthenry9319

    6 ай бұрын

    You must never "trust the individual blindly that it won't negatively impact other systems on the truck". The driver of the vehicle (the consumer) is presumed to be intelligent enough to know to tap the "on/off" button on the dash (which has a yellow light to indicate whether it is on or off) to disable the auto engine stop/start feature when you get into the vehicle after you start the vehicle up or at any time while you are driving the vehicle. Yes, you the consumer does have to tap that button each time you drive the vehicle. You also have to press the AC button to "on" or "off" each time you want to turn the AC on or off. The consumer also has to flip the light switch at home to turn the lights on or off. This can be done without having to disable your home's electric power. Flipping the light switch is not very difficult to do. Neither is tapping the on/off button for the auto stop/start. You think?

    Just tap the damn "on/off" button on the dash to disable the stupid federally mandated auto ignition stop/start system every time you drive. The button even has a light to show whether the system is on or off. Nothing about your vehicle is easier to understand or to do than tapping that auto ignition start/stop on/off button. This is especially bad when turbochargers can be over 1000 degrees quite often.

    Wait 8hours to power down all the modules ??? Kinda concerning as newer vehicles have so many features, if you’re powering down all modules some of these convenience features and safety need to be recalibrated, have you ran a pre/post scan to see everything is in working order. Btw not all faults will light up on your dash to let you know, you will truly only know if you run scans, and btw not with a cheap $20 wal mart obd plug in, actual autel or snap on scanners.

  • @DemonWorks

    @DemonWorks

    Nothing needs to be recalibrated, you are simply not touching the truck for that time period, much like getting home from work and not driving the truck until the next morning. I use a gm scantool, the MDI 2 with GDS 2, no $20 scan tool here.
