⛳️ Golf Teaching Philosophy:
Mark has extensive experience teaching a variety of golf students including top professional golfers to first-time golf beginners. He teaches both male and female golf students, junior and senior golfers, and is also qualified in teaching golfers with disabilities or special needs. He understands that students are all different and have to be taught as individuals.
A proponent of proper impact fundamentals, Mark, bases his communication with students on simplicity. He is constantly searching for new ways to downsize the golf swing and its components for his students. His instruction includes the latest in technology and a variety of drills that help students make the appropriate changes to their golf swing. The technology assists in diagnosis and giving feedback on each swing, while the drills help students to retrain their motor pattern.
Mark believes that the game of golf is as hard as we make it. Students have access to more information than ever through the internet, portable devices with swing capture, KZread, etc.... If we continue to over analyze our golf swing further confusion is inevitable. This confusion leads to doubt. Once doubt enters into the equation and our confidence is damaged, the game has won.
Mark teaches that a golf swing starts with practical fundamentals to fit a student’s particular pattern. Since using TrackMan his focus has turned to helping students create proper impact alignments. He prefers to use the swing each student possesses if it is functional in producing the desired impact. Mark’s goal is to help a student identify and understand the tendencies in their golf swing. The student can then work to improve and eliminate these tendencies.
Mark feels strongly that to make a change in the golf swing takes time and practice. If a student is looking for short term success, Mark will work exclusively on the short game. Many students have taken five to ten strokes off their score in one month with intensive short game training. As for the full swing, it can take a student much longer to become comfortable and see results. Playing lessons are an essential part of his training so students can learn to take it to the golf course - where it counts!
In his quest to keep current on the new trends in golf and fitness, Mark continually reads top authors, travels the country to observe top teachers, and attends industry shows and seminars in an effort to provide his clientele with the best instruction possible.

    Nicely done... always simple but instructive. While I am not a senior golfer (only 72), I will work on implementing these three points and a stronger grip as soon as I get to the practice range. I feel that I do most of them now but I will be more aware when practicing. Thanks for the time and effort you put in making these videos.

    Hi Hugh! I’m also right handed but play left handed. I like to talk about both hands and give my students the choice on which way they want to do it. I’ve noticed the dominant hand isn’t always the one the student chooses! Thanks for your comment!

    Absolutely wonderful instruction mark! I've always been aware of the first two items, but allowing the arms and wrists to soften (not collapse) at the top of the backswing is something I've always fought against because it doesn't "look good". I've experimented with it at the range and when I'm golfing alone, with some success, but when I play in my weekly golf league, I'm too self-conscious to do it. This year I think I'm going to give it a try.

    Nice video Mark. Can take the phone to the range and employ these reminders. Can really identify with the last tip of the three: lengthening of the swing to get more clubhead speed. And it is a matter of personal control in keeping the clubhead in a place where i “know” what I can do with it rather than elongating it and taking the risk of hitting shots every which way.!!

    It would be great to see your swings in slow motion so we could focus on different aspect. Such as the take away, turn, elbow position. Great video as always. Also, what effect does position your club in the palm of your hand versus the fingers, have on the golf swing.

    Hey Joe! Thank you for your comment. I'll add some slo-mo's to future videos. In the fingers promotes more closing of the face. Also better for less tension.

    Mark, how much grip pressure do you apply to the strong grip? Do you retain it through the relaxing of the extension?

  • @DurlandGolfSchoolNaples

    @DurlandGolfSchoolNaples

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Thomas! You can have as much or as little grip pressure as you want. The key is to have “greasy elbows” so there is no tension in the wrist, elbow and shoulder joints. This video will help: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nmdnpKukg9jUis4.html. Thanks!
