just rebadge it to a tdi and call it a day lol
Happy to have found a video of someone doing this to an R Lol. Thankfully I haven't had this issue yet, but not many people are diving into the niche stuff with MQBs. This was a great video

Thank you 🙂
The oil valve, aka plunger, comes apart real easily and only contains 4 parts. Pull the locking clip out the top of valve with a pick. Take apart, spray with brake cleaner, reassemble with Assembly lube or oil.
Just overhauled one of these TSI engines in a 2012 Beetle. I feel your pain!
Theres also an oil control valve in the body/assembly that oil filter screws onto, remove the assembly and replace that valve at the back of it... Heard that fixed it for some people
Cam adjuster failed, throw a new cam shaft in it, if removing the magnet plug makes the noise go away then the problem is cam gear, I do them for exact noise on mercedes
Stay positive, at least the car is "shiny and clean". That's an old school VW line.
Nothing like pegging off the rev limiter when coolant temp is up and oil temp probably wasn't even close.

Yes
sounds like my TDI
Why didn't you buy a new oem part? Maybe the used one you got is defective. Also could it be the rear one? My plan is to replace both magnets and plungers this spring as preventative maintenance, especially since I race in the summer. When it comes to important engine parts like this my opinion is go new and go oem.

It was a known working part and if it fixed it temporarily the next step was to buy new. Judging from what I’ve read and how the plungers spring felt, that’s when I started to doubt it and knew it was going to be the camshaft
Poor kayla. I sympathyze 😢
Have you check camshaft timing values through obd11?

You gotta replace the spool valve; the valve that you just replaced, together with the intake cam cause I'm pretty sure there are variants of it but I'm pretty sure you got the resources to check 🤐
Don't clean part just change the "oil control valve" parts on this cars is sensitive.... plz let me know after u get a new "oil control valve" make another video after getting replacement pretty plz Kayla
😔
Sucks to watch this. tried to inform you that it was going to need a intake cam shaft with the spool valve. Back on your fist video, but I guess it got deleted. It's a combination of things that cause this, but in the end it's the camshaft adjustor that has failed.

That’s weird because I don’t delete comments. Thank you for this tho. Wanted to try everything possibly before cracking her open 😕
