I see you found the Spyder anti-theft system. ;-) Loosen your grip a bit and that twitchyness will all but go away. Took me about 500 miles to get used to mine and now I love it.

I have a GW and wife a Can Am Spyder. The most significant difference to me is in the handling. On the bike, you push on the bars in the direction you want to go. And you move with the bike - ie, if I put something on the back seat and rode through switchbacks, it would remain on the backseat (don't ask me how I know lol). On the trike, you push on the OPPOSITE side you want to move and brace your body as the g-forces try and throw you - ie, if I put something on the back seat and rode through the switchbacks, it would fly off the backseat in the first turn (don't ask me how I know that too!) The Spyder can be a hoot, but it's a completely different experience. I think an experienced rider would struggle with it because I think this is what enables feeling "one" with a single-track bike. My wife never rode a bike, so to her it's all "normal." But it's quite the workout - no doubt fun but very different - to ride aggressively in twisties.

Terrific video! You're incredibly humble, which makes you one of the best VLOGGERS. Traded our 2008 GW for a 2021 Spyder RT Limited and never looked back. My wife much prefers the Can Am to any of the 16 motorcycles we previously owned. The only accessory missing on our Spyder is a handle for a recliner. Keep those ride reviews coming, and we'll keep watching. Ride safe!

I have a 2022 Spyder RT Limited. I have 7700 + miles on it already. I use it as my daily commuter to work, as well as trips. I added on a Garmin Zumo XT after seeing Cruiseman's video on the Zumo XT. I traded in my 2019 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse for the Spyder. For me, its the best thing I could have done. I'm only 5'-5" tall, and grew tired of all the work to keep myself up with a passenger on the Indian. Uneven gravel parking lots and roads, trying to do U-turns, not being able to back up on too steep of ground, etc. All of that added up to me not being able to just enjoy the ride worry free. Yes, the Spyder isn't perfect for a few reasons, but I get far more enjoyment out of it, as compared to the Indian. I cant tip over, I have plenty of storage, and I have a real reverse. Also, no high amounts of engine heat between my legs. Its also quiet compared to my Indian. Loud exhaust is not my thing. Its worry free for me. I live in MN and have been to Canada, SD, and WI on the Spyder. I even do short trips on my neighborhood roads to go to the gym or grocery store in my shorts and running shoes or flip flops and don't feel like there is any safety concerns in doing so. Try that on a motorcycle. To each their own, however you get out and ride, so you can enjoy it to the fullest!

Interesting- after watching your previous videos, I decided to move up to a Goldwing from my Rebel 1100. When I arrived at the dealer looking at the 2023 gw, the dealer told my not to buy it because I wouldn’t be able to pick it up.. then he pointed to a used Goldwing trike with 12,000 mikes on. He wanted around $50,000 out the door. That’s more than I paid for my Jeep Rubicon! So, I saw a video on the can am, and went to the can am dealer. My wife was with me, and she wanted to ride with me in the past but wouldn’t as she felt unstable on 2 wheel bikes. Make a long story short I bought on used Can Am (2019) for her and another 2021 for me. Your comments on the electronics are correct. It is not on a par with the wing. There’s no question they could have step upped their game there. I bought a stand alone Garmin that doesn’t rely on cell towers to circumvent. I also use my helmet Cardo for phone etc. Comparing the Goldwing trike vs the CanAm, I found it handles much better. Further I bought 2 trikes for the price of 1 Goldwing. So while one can find faults in almost everything, I am very pleased with the Can Am so far.👍

Thanks Cruiseman I was always curious about that bike. I may need to do one of those in my old age. I really don’t like trikes but those look kinda cool. Also I have to give you a big thanks!!! I just did my second air filter change on my 2021 Goldwing. Between those and a few other maintenance and accessories installs you officially saved me over $1,400 in labor charges. You’re the best!!!!!

My long-time riding buddy crashed his Harley Ultra Classic in 2020, and because of his age (70), debated quite a while about whether to stay with 2 wheels or go to 3. I had a 2018 DCT Tour at the time, and he was very interested in that, but ultimately decided to buy a used Can Am Spyder F3 Limited. While he really liked the stability, comfort, and storage capacity, it has taken him forever to get used to the absurd starting procedure, overly-sensitive steering, how to avoid running over road obstacles with the rear wheel, and how to keep the front wheels centered in the lane. He's not tech savvy, so has not used the navigation/infotainment features very much, although I was able to download Google Maps to his iPhone and pair it with the trike. I'm glad other owners report that they've grown very comfortable with their Can Ams, and I hope my buddy reaches that same level.

As the owner of a 2022 RT-L I can say the BRP INFO system is utter garbage. Most owners just connect the phone to their helmets Coms. The steering is super sensitive and it's best to ride with a feather like grip on the bars, firm grip and or death grip will have you wallowing all over the place like a drunk on steroids.....I'm looking forward to the follow up video.

I am on the other side. I bought one in 2017 and still find myself not liking it enough. I have really tried, put miles on it but I don't care for it. 5 decades of 2 wheels and that muscle memory makes it challenging to adjust to the dynamics of the Spyder. No leaning, no countersteering, very twitchy steering at speed. I also find on the twisty roads I have to think too much in the corners given the push right GO LEFT on the handlebars. Exact opposite of all my muscle memory. So it's going up for sale at a decent price. It's like new and will cost the next lucky owner a lot less than a new one. For those who got used to 3 wheels instead of 2 I say cheers. Enjoy your ride.

I traded in my 2018 Goldwing DCT for one of these. My wife would not ride with me on two wheels. You don't need to install the app etc. just a simple blue tooth pairing as you would do on the Goldwing. The app and additional pairing is for the navigation on the right screen. No one uses the app because it is a small screen and it just does not work very well. Mount your phone or a GPS instead. Pair your phone for music and phone calls only, that works really well. The steering is a bit touchy when you first start out. You get used to it after a while and forget you ever had a problem. You also get used to the start-up sequence. Other than those things, it's a great bike. Very comfortable and smooth.

3:46 the key does have a chip in it to aid in theft prevention. You do NOT have to download the app to use the Bluetooth with your phone. However there’s much more functionality with the app. That Warning screen has defeated many a Ryder. You do NOT have to wait on the warning screen. You can hit the mode button while the computers/CANBUSS boots up. I have a full tutorial on my channel. The problem with the dash and why it doesn’t use CarPlay is the dash is used on their 3 platforms, water, snow and road. Also the unit was designed by Bosch back in 2017. The licensing for CarPlay is approaching $1,000k BMW is trying to get their car buyers to pay a monthly fee for CarPlay option on the dash. Reason is they used to sell the GPS option and obviously it’s quickly becoming obsolete. Look forward to your vs Goldwing.

Loved the review! I had a stroke 7 years ago. Lost all my balance can’t even ride my wife’s 2 wheel bicycle well. Thought my bike ridding was all over! Have ridden 2 wheels for 40+ years, my last bike was a Valkyrie std. miss that bike. Well one day I saw the F-3 and thought I could probably ride that! I was rite!!! Now have a 2021 F-3S Spyder. Love it, ridding for my second season, this year. Love it!!! The Rotax motor is awesome! I found that BMW bought Rotax a few years back. Very high quality motor. Very powerful 1330cc 3 cylinder motor. 115hp 96 ftlbs! What a great power plant. Some of the smaller BMW’s have Rotax power plants! They say BMW on the side covers but are Rotax motors!! Love my Spyder! Fast as I need to go, and I’m back in the wind!!!! Wind therapy is real!!!! I love it! 🥰🥰🥰

Thanks for your first impression of a Can am Spyder Rt. I had the same first impression and issues with my 2021 Spyder RT that I bought after selling my 2020 goldwing dct. I hope you will show the largest trunk which is called the frunk as it is located in front. Yes it takes a certain time to get used to the lateral movement at high speed but you get used to it. My main concern was keeping my bike (the goldwing) up especially when in traffic but I don’t have that fear anymore. Of course it does not give a motorcycle ride and feel but for me my spyder gives me a pretty interesting feeling and assurance which I had lost on my dct.

I have a Harley Road Glide Limited and my wife has the Spyder RT Limited. I ride them both and at 67 I am leaning toward a three wheeler, my leg strength is waning. I found the Can-Am "twitchy" also and immediately changed the sway bar to a heavy duty one. The factory front shocks are junk in my opinion, purchased the Elka shocks. These changes smoothed the ride and fixed the control issues. Before the upgrades I wouldn't let my wife ride it on the interstate. I know many have made peace with the factory equipment, but make these two upgrades and you will see a huge improvement. The infotainment operation sucks, I think it was written to deliberately send me into a helmet throwing rage. Their apps suck and their nav maps, last I checked, was 35 bucks a year. We have a phone mount for the center of the handlebars and run everything on the iphone. Bluetooth the phone to the bike for music or the SENA for communications. Being 2023 this system is woefully inadequate and complicated. The some of the controls post 2020 are now on the center console, this does help. I am deciding between a Harley RG3 or my own RTL. After riding my wife's Can-Am and the RG3, The Can-Am rides and handles better with the upgrades to the suspension, but the Harley has a far better infotainment system. Gonna be a tough choice..... I was yelling at my screen - "PUSH THE MODE BUTTON" 🤣🤣

I was laughing on the trying to start it. I have a 2018 gw non tour and had got a 2011 can am spyder Rt for my wife. I saw this pop up in suggestions and had to watch it. That twitchyness on the highway was a bit disconcerting to me too. I had found out, through repeated suggestions by other spyder owners to swap the sway bar with a baja ron sway bar. It is thicker than the stock one and I found it more stable on the highway by restricting body roll. I know what you are thinking. Why would you have body roll changing lanes. I can't put my finger on it but I think the very slight body roll increases the feel of the input from the handlebars. I ride snowmobiles I feel the same thing on hard corners. Just my 2 cents and I'm looking forward to your comparison of the gw and the spyder.

Here in Wales (UK), I own a 2022 GoldWing DCT and my wife has a 2021 Spyder RT Sea-to-Sky. I love riding her Spyder whenever I get the chance - especially for pottering around new places (risky on a big 2-wheeler, as you never know what sort of narrow, unkempt roads you might end up on!). By the way, you don't need your foot on the brake to start the engine UNLESS you forgot to leave the bike in neutral when you last shut it off.

Now that's not fair. Your lack of knowledge about the RT is not Can Am's fault. The price, the handling, and the functionality is different and must compared to other trikes, not to the DCT. I have both bikes and both have their place in my riding. My wife at 75 doesn't want to ride two wheels anymore, so when we are together, we ride the RT, pull a trailer, and go anywhere we want. When I am riding to work and beyond, I ride the GW. Both bikes are great.

My dad had one. I couldn't stand it. It removes most of the things I love about motorcycles: no manual transmission and no lean. To me, it was an abomination. It felt "twitchy" and not leaning around the corners was both disturbing and irritating. Also, if you lift a wheel even the slightest bit the Nanny takes over. Dad loved it. He could no longer ride motorcycles and rode that thing all over the country. If I can no longer ride, I'll just hang up my helmet for good and take the doors and top off my Jeep and drive. Stripped Jeeps push a lot of the buttons motorcycles do by putting you in the wind when without doors and can be had with manual transmissions. I'm glad some people like them, but for me? UGH!!!

I have a 2018 F3 Limited, and I'm glad I was never a 2 wheel rider. I've watched a lot of videos where 2 wheel riders test a Spyder and most don't like. The mechanics are very different, so i can understand. As for the Spyder's infotainment system it's like they just threw something together. The Bluetooth only connects to phones or helmet comms. I have a old mp3 player that I attached a Bluetooth transmitter to. The Spyder would not pair with it. Most Spyder rider's use their cellphones or a Garmin for navigation. From a video Lamonster did a couple years ago even the Garmin Zumo XT wouldn't connect to the Spyder. I also agree that it's time for the Spyder to be fully automatic. With the Goldwing DCT and their own Ryker being automatic the Spyder is getting outdated.

I bought a 2019 Spyder RT Limited in 2020. I went for “top of the line” thinking it would be the best. Had I done a bit more research and put my ridiculous ego on hold, I would’ve bought an F3S which is considered one step down in the Line Up. But, and especially for long term two wheelers guys, it’s the way to go. A bit peppier, the rider/driver sits inside below the tank whereas the RT LTD guys ride on top of it. Plus a number of rider repositioning adaptations. The transition is much faster with the F3S. With diligence and an iron will one can graduate to a rider with skills he/she has never dreamed of.

I sold my Goldwing and bought a new CanAm Spyder SE6 RT Limited in 2015. This was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. As you stated they are just so different from a regular two wheel motorcycle. The power steering is incredibly sensitive, but I got used to this very quickly. I found there is definitely a technique to get smooth gear changes. I thought the brakes and suspension to be good. I added an Ultimate Seat which improved the comfort, but only got me another 20 minutes in the seat due to tail bone pain. I do my own maintenance and definitely a jigsaw to take the bike apart for maintenance or adding modifications. The starting sequence is ridiculous and I still don’t know why BRP requires this. I kept the bike for five years, but was not sad to see it go. For me you can’t beat the feeling and sensation of driving a regular motorcycle through a curve in the road. With the CanAm you holding on for dear life 😅.

Comparison should be between two trikes. Takes about 500 miles to get used to the Spyder. We had a 2013 and 2019 RT both trouble free. Shifting is completely automatic on the Can Am Ryker which is a smaller, less expensive trike. I demoed a Goldwing and it’s more fun than a trike but too heavy for me.

Good video buddy I ride a gold wing as well and just went with a buddy of mine last weekend and we took the Spyder coarse never rode one before loved it they don't let you go out of the parking lot so didn't get to try it on the highway going to see if we can test ride one sometime the had the rykers there to we had to switch back and fourth for the day if I was to get one it definitely would be the Spyder they are deferred to start at first the ryker has just a magnetic key you don't touch it put your foot on the brake turn the kill switch on roll back on the throttle until you hear the beep hit the starter button and the park break is on the side of the motor push the leaver down and a way you go seems like a lot at first but you soon pickup on it the rulers have a reverse leaver up towards the left front wheel that you pull back and the Spyder has a button couldn't believe how fast they will stop my wing has great breaks but won't stop as fast as them sorry for the big story like watching your channel thanks for sharing your experience on the Spyder take care ride safe

The reason Google Maps or Apple Maps is not used is due to the fact that they don’t work when there’s no cell service. Since the same BRP Connect is used on their snowmobiles and watercraft, it’s designed for all vehicles. Genius and Sygic are separate apps and not a BRP app. They can be used anywhere. - Pairing a Bluetooth device (The Spyder) to a phone is the same as pairing to anything to the phone. Settings, pairing mode and pair. The BRP Go app has instructions. It really does help reading instructions. When I switched from my last Goldwing to the Spyder I went online and researched all I could find about it. Ride it often and you’ll get used to it. Comparing a 2 wheeler to a 3 wheeler? Why? How’s about comparing a Spyder with a Reverse Trike (converted Goldwing)

I have ridden two different Can Ams. I find the steering almost dangerous at interstate speed. Also, compared to a GL1800, the Spyder felt underpowered to me. I think the absence of a lean (as a 2 wheel bike) feels almost unstable and ready to turn over. I guess someday I'll have to go to some sort of three wheel riding, but I don't look forward to it.

I get what you're saying.... I feel the same way the couple times I test rode one. That said, you really can't "roll it" short of yanking the bars at speed. The stability control will prevent it. If they added keyless fob, did away with the "split" on the screen (think new BMWs), added an auto shift mode (like the DCT), and enabled car play/android auto (without adding several grand to the price)..... I'd sell my other bikes and buy one. Most of what I want added wouldn't really cost much/any to add.

A Baja Ron Sway Bar and a Pedal Box will solve your issues. Quick rather than fast and riding on rails at all speeds and weather conditions. I live in Colorado, ride 100-150 miles per day, approximately 345 days per year.

Tip from a trucker...... when entering the freeway (especially on a motorcycle for Pete's sake), get up to speed (you weren't barely going 50) AND look over your shoulder/into your mirror BEFORE you arrive at the end of the ramp. Nothing more annoying than having to brake for a clueless motorist, only to see them speed away. After the third or fourth ramp in a row I want to NOT brake and see how they like it. Not say'n, just say'n.

I went from a 2013 Goldwing to a Can Am. Didn’t care for the Can Am. Although reliable, the Rotax engine sounds like a rattling can of bolts compared to the Goldwing. On bumpy roads you get both front to back and side to side jouncing. Went back to a 21 DCT Goldwing. Not crazy about the DCT at slow speeds.

I would love something like this however I have certain problems with the Spyder. Mostly the dealership doesn't seem to have dedication to this product. The 2024s are out there for at least 6 months yet, they still have only 2 2023 models. I was not permitted to test drive one, not even a used one. They also wouldn't take my Honda GW in trade. There are also videos that show the problems with them. If I were still capable of riding 2 wheels (same hip problems as in this video), I certainly would NOT have traded a Honda GW DCT off. As in this video, starting the machine, upshifting and connecting to devices makes it seem like the manufacturer wasn't forward thinking. I've withdrawn my interest in this vehicle with the dealership.

I thought about a Spyder when I had to sell my Wing. Had the salesman not been such a jackass, I might have bought one. Went and looked at a Polaris Slingshot and all the stars aligned, and all was good and they made me a great deal on their "Tester" unit. Now I'm still getting smacked in the face with bugs (and eating a few here and there) and experiencing the fresh air therapy but, I don't have to worry about putting my feet down (and getting them back up on the pegs) and tipping over at every stoplight. :)

Glad you are enjoying your Slingshot. As long as you don't try and sell me on the idea it can be legitimately called a "motorcycle", "bike" or "trike". It's a three-wheeled roadster (car controls and car drive train). I bet it's fun though....

yup, doesn't work with anything useful. wait till ya try to answer the phone. There are more than a few Android Auto/Apple Carplay touch screen devices and a couple for MC's work great with BT helmets but not the bike. Garmin XT2 does much better. Don't feel bad about the 'start' issue, I spent 20 minutes in gas stop trying to get into reverse. good thing I had the book in the front trunk. BTW I have a Carbon Black 2022 RT Limited fresh in April. I had given my 2008 wing to my Son. Getting old and had issues getting the wing off the side stand.

I've followed you on and off for many years and in fact your videos on here helped me get into a 2020 GW Bagger. What I was expecting was a "first ride" on the Spyder RT, not eight minutes of you messing about trying to remember how to start it. Anyway, I did go back and watch the rest and as usual it was good and informative. Be very interested to see you continue to compare the two as I doubt there is anyone else on YT that is as informative on the Goldwing.
