Goldfish in the Desert!

In this video we explore the area we are camped in. Some interesting finds included goldfish. Then back to camp to grill up dinner.
Thank you for being here.

Not unusual. Rancher goes to pet shop and buys a bag of young gold fish to put in a water pond or two. After that just keep spreading them around. Protects cattle and horses from mosquito carrier diseases while feeding the fish. 😊

@@angel4874 Irl, there is no way to avoid poop. Unless you're an extreme germaphobic wrapped in plastic, taking an alcohol bath and sterilizing every thing you touch your going to consume poop. But that is also why I mentioned a water filter. Besides, if your used to fields with large critters you're going to step in it. Even eating critters means some poop with them. Still, cleanliness is better than infecting yourself. 🥴💩

Exactly what I came to say. A well known technique.putting some frogs around a natural spring source works the same. Or turtles. Sometimes cattle tanks contain brine shrimp like large desert hollows in rocks with shade or fairy shrimp they're called too. The SW is rugged, harsh and if unprepared deady too. That dead calf is sometimes a person. But that subtle beauty is always present and if you grow up in it there's no better, unreal enchantment. I grew up in the deserts of the SW. I first learned to swim in a large circular, metal cow tank. Loved the mossy lichen sliding under my feet and green toes. Loved lounging in it as cows showed up, drank and wondered what kind of aquatic creature I was. 😅

Brian, great peaceful video. That plant at 2:00 with the purple flowers and pointed "spikes" is called Red Stem Filare. When I was very young my mom showed me how you can pull two spikes off the plant, then with your finger nail pinch the center of one spike to make a split and then push the other spike thru it to make a minature pair of scissors. Everytime I see a filare plant in the desert I have to stop and make a pair of scissors.
