This is verified true. Outside of the hood this is not known as a classic. Asked a friend who was raised in the uptown area about the song, to which he replied “Oh of course I remember it, but I wouldn’t consider it to be a classic.” I then went to the hood and asked some hood people what they thought about the song, “Yes” they replied, “that’s definitely a hood classic.” Case closed.

hmmmm. so you don't know that Golden eye was set to be a Rail shooter. Until like a month before it was set to be published, a dev decided in his own time for his own amusement to do a little controller reconfig and allow him self to free walk and shoot thru what was other was a Time Crisis like game. And he found it exhilarating and so did every other member of the dev team when they saw it. and the choice to change became instant. This is why there are so many places where it LAAAAGS if you don't kill enough gaurds. game wasn't optimized to have all that on screen. and they really said fuck it its fun!

They didn't have to go this hard on the music... but they did and we appreciated them for it

This watch theme hit so hard. Grant Kirkhope was and still is a musical genius to do the things he did with all the constraints of the N64.

In honor of Goldeneye being announced on N64 for Switch, this is more than appropriate for the occasion! 🍻

This game really was something special.. still is in a way. The music for example, way ahead of it's time. The sounds they used, the style of how the music builds up, the gongs in the background. Simply amazing.

This game was so big that my friends father would come in and play with us.

Fun fact: it took a really long time for the game producers to develop that pause menu, and they insisted to their budget and time advisors that it needed to be in the final game.

It’s not that companies no longer care about gamers, it’s about gamers no longer caring about the quality of the games they choose to spend money on. In the goldeneye days there was no “day 1 patch” to fix bugs and issues. If you’re game released and wasn’t ready to go, it tanked, and lost the company millions. Nowadays gamers will tolerate the worst of conditions on day 1 releases and still defend their purchase instead of holding developers accountable.
