When I was a kid in the 80s, out in the country, the local fire station would test sirens every saturday around 1pm more or less on the dot. And when it'd happen you could hear what sounded like hundreds of dogs, including my own, all around town going off with the howling all at once. It was a pretty amazing sound.

If an ambulance or fire truck comes through the neighborhood you can hear all the dogs who are outside howling.

Golden Retrievers are the most sociable and loyal dogs I have ever seen, honestly. They are basically the tuxedo cats of the dog world, where they are so calm and affectionate, as well as funny and loyal. I love them. This pupper is such a blessing.

I work with dogs and I wouldn't say the way the dog reacted would indicate any distress. I have a couple howlers and most do it with pleasure lol most frequent time I see it in distress is anxiety from being left alone say at home.

I will never forget the night I was singing to a Stevie Wonder song, when my dog 'Hendrix' walked into the room. At one beautiful part of the song, my dog pointed his nose straight up and did the most soulful howl. Hendrix had a look like he was smiling. 40 years ago but I will never forget how we connected that night.

New Pixar movie: buddy cop film set in a world populated by dogs. In one scene a dog gets arrested and they noseprint him. The dust used to get the print causes him to sneeze.

He even tried to correct his pitch and really tried to be an ambulance so amazing i am proud :)

Oh this is brilliant. Reminds me when my brother and I were walking our dogs late at night, an ambulance came past sirens on and my brothers dog out of nowhere mimicked it perfectly.. Was amazing as he's never howled... Both have since passed away. Thanks for the video and a special memory I'd forgotten. 😊😢

This is really impressive honestly. You can tell there is some type of learning going on in his head; that he is really thinking about the sound of the siren. On another note, my dogs used to do that high pitched howl every time the really loud siren by me went off. They have since passed but they were good boys

@@insertname1841 There's not. The dog is hearing a sound that's similar enough to a howl that it's making the dog want to howl as well. That's all it is, it's pretty ingrained behavior in dogs. It's a cute video, but the dog isn't sitting there thinking "I really want to imitate that ambulance noise for some reason, I'm going to try." It's just reacting to howl-like sounds the way that most dogs do.

The wolves at Wolf Park do that in response to a distant train whistle. They learned the routine so well, they start when they just hear the train on the tracks not even whistling yet. A couple of dogs near where I last lived in the Bronx howled in response to the fire engine siren.

The starting, he's like "Okay, 'Auuu-', no wait" 😂😂. Damn cute.

Nice! I didn’t notice on the first watching (probably because I haven’t heard sirens often enough to recognize the difference), but it does sound more like a firetruck.

I noticed that the horn sounds firetruck like... Or rather I don't think I've ever heard an ambulance or police car honking at people. Not sure I can tell the siren itself apart from an ambulance though

Pretty neat, ambulances imitating a dog.

Dog: I needs a little less "Call of the Wild" and more "air raid siren".

One of my favorite things in the world that makes me smile.

I used to drive an ambulance and I had a dog. I’m convinced that the siren hurts the dogs ears. My dog would howl when she heard a siren. I used it to teach her to “sing” on command.

For 20+ years, I only heard fire trucks (and other sirens) in suburban type of areas. The 1st time I heard fire truck in a downtown area, it was painfully loud for me. The skyscrapers amplifies the sound. Bridges and tunnels amplified the sound also. I learned that the heard way with a train.

When I was a kid we had a town siren that blew every day at noon and 6 p.m. All the dogs in the neighborhood howled along with it. Too cool!

I had a boxer named Charlie and when we used to play grand theft auto 4 Charlie would mimic the exact tone of the police or ambulance sirens from the game in real life. I'll never forget the good boy
