Gold isn't money, but then nothing else is either. Under a gold standard the price of gold is determined by fiat just like it is with paper. The current price of gold does not reflect the actual value of gold. the price of gold should probably be about double the price of silver which would take into account the scarcity and usefulness of gold.

If banks are shorting this is very good for gold. Any upwards pressure will put them on margin, and since they have so little cash it can eaily start a short squeeze.

If $2000 bought an ounce of gold 2 years ago, inflation has skyrocketed to the moon over that period of time, and today $2000 inflation battered dollars still only buys an ounce of gold… how the fuck is that any kind of inflation hedge? I feel like that sometimes, but then I remember how quickly things went bad in 2008. People were losing their jobs, their cars, their houses, moving, and selling everything, or giving it away so they could make the move. The financial system is based on faith. When people lose faith in that system, the right assets will do well. This might be the last good buying opportunity if you have the money. Buy what everyone hates and sell what everyone wants.

If the price of gold was $2000 an ounce 2 years ago and it’s at the same price right now yet the dollar has decreased in value and will over time it ends up being a hedge against inflation because everything else is so expensive and the cost of living becomes astronomical as inflation increases in the long term the dollar will lose more and more of its value while gold may remain unchanged (which is unlikely) or increase in value but it’s still holds true to its value for the long term and ends up becoming more valuable then fiat. I’m sure the point this guy is always trying to make is that the economy is only getting worse and we are getting closer to a point of no return and in that process the dollar will collapse and precious metals will increase in value and stay stable next to fiat that’s losing its value day by day. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s what I think.

You misunderstand Gold's role in preserving purchasing power. In the short-run what you say is often the case historically. More importantly, Gold’s purchasing power is remarkably stable, but only over the very long run. The price of bread expressed in gold thousands of years ago is about the same as today. Yet over investment time horizons, gold’s purchasing power may vary (and sometimes it may even fall, as in the 1980s and the 1990s). Keep this in mind, when investing in gold.

with % rates rising everyone thought when % rates go up gold will fallen, this have been proven to be a lie, now imagine what will happen when the FED starts to cut rates again, gold will go through the roof very quickly.... when the FED cut rates this time, the DOW will get to another all time high, that will be the time to SHORT it, because a crash will be very close, same thing happened in 1987, when the FED started cutting rates, stocks rose very quickly, and than crashed.

Yes and most dont even know why global synchronized recession/depression is coming fast. It is because most countries 'printed money', exactly the way we did in the US. A few countries did not print money such as Mexico..hence is why their economy is roaring and the citizens are prospering. Aside from that, there are 2 things that are evident in a flourishing economy, 1) the population is educated, 2) manufacturing to supply the world with goods. Mexico has both of those markers. They are living in 'The Golden Years' right now and will continue going forward. Hmmmm, In the US our Golden Age started in the late 1940's-1950's and began to disintegrate in the late 1970's, was very evident by the 1980's. Fast forward to today..Sadly the US is imploding. This process has happened worldwide with all powerful countries throughout history.

Gold and silver are the hedge. A 1960 silver dime was worth $0.10 in 1960, but it is worth many times that just in melt value right now. An ounce of gold was $35 in 1970, but sells for over $2000 now. If you remove the brief fluctuations, gold and silver pretty much have the same purchasing power that they have always had. Are they an investment that will make you money? I don't see how. They just give you a way to store wealth without risk. Can you take a huge loss in Gold and Silver? I don't see how, unless you buy and sell unwisely.

@@egyptianhebrew91 That's the problem. Savings accounts show the same number of dollars, but inflation removes buying power of each dollar. Savings account = lose buying power, Gold or silver = keep the buying power. Investments = make money, or maybe lose money. That's why metals are a solid hedge, but to grow your money you have to take risks.

gold price has nothing to do with physical demand, its driven by the much higher volume futures market.

I wish I had bought the S&P instead of taking Schiff's advice and buying the GDX. Just compare the 2 on a chart. I understand his thesis and Austrian economics, but timing matters. A lot.

If gold were at least(!) an inflation hedge, it should be at least at 2500 by now, with the high Inflation of the last years...but it remains around 2000 since 2022, so I'm losing money...should have bought Bitcoin...gold is and went nowhere, no matter if inflation was up or down

True statement.

This strategy (miners, metals, value stocks etc.) will NEVER work unless the rest of the world loses faith in America and dumps the dollar. In other words, we undergo a complete catastrophe. Until then, our criminal govt can keep printing currency and kicking the can down the road. I bought into this strategy 5 years ago and have made almost NOTHING after inflation. Yes, my stocks have paid nice dividends but for the most part, they've been off-set by large capital losses. If I were to cash out today, after selling fees and taxes, i would be no better off than if I left the cash in a MM fund or CD's. The highly touted "rotation" started happening 2 years ago and then Wall St. bailed on it. Sadly, the contrarian "Schiff strategy" hasn't worked and I've come to the realization it may NEVER pay off in my lifetime. (I'm 57)

This huge gold rally you anticipate is soundly based on inflation getting out of hand but that inflation being good for the miners revenue is also going to be a curse for their input costs? Hence near term the market is banging down the miners since their input costs are more predictable than is when the parabolic move in their revenue? Thanks again!

I would avoid the index funds, mutual funds, or specific stocks for the time being. The 5% fixed incomes are the safest bet for now. Save your cash for when the market actually shows sign of recovery.
