Gold Prospecting in Scotland

Ойын-сауық

Today plans changed again as the winter weather didn't allow me access to my originally planned prospecting spot, so I end up in another place just downstream a few miles.

    We were in Scotland in the fall of 2010, the snow was 4 feet and that was even at lower town / city elevation, we didn't pan for gold but had the most wonderful vacation in the highlands, people were very friendly and helpful, unlike our home town here in Nashua NH where most people are horrid, ignorant and the crime is out of control. Nothing beats the UK !

    KleshGuitars there's lots of good sites to metal detect in Scotland, also a few extinct volcanoes that used to have the area beside me like yellowstone a few million years ago with hot springs, lots of quartz gold and various other metals, the geology and mineral content changes every 3 miles or so, was at a site with an open quarry and daily blasting that ripped up quartz tonnes at a time with impure gold in it, can send you a photo if you would like.

    Frigging awesome! So my dad and my grandad immigrated to British Columbia when my dad was a young teenager. So so when I was about 4 years old my granddad would set me out in a pile of rocks with a magnifying glass and tell me to go prospecting for gold. I was so into it, I would sneak my Grandma's jewelry with the fake diamonds and pick them out...no good. LOL. I loved it. So since late last year I bought some bags of paydirt and I'm so hooked! Lol seems we hit the same type of spots. Just been able to find flour gold and specs so far on rapidan and Rappahannock rivers. It is kewal to find an area worked because you absolutely know there is or was gold there. Great video and that bridge is awesome bet there is not one piece of rebar in that whole bridge just mortor and rocks.

  • @Klesh

    @Klesh

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, I can't dig for very long so I take what I can get. As for the bridge, I'm sure it was all stone. The bridge is the only connection between certain towns in that part of Scotland for centuries and it's just totally massive and solid rock.

    Just a tip not that you need it , if you want more than a few specks move a bit further down from the bridges they will have been hammered and not sure if you know in uk any persons prospecting have to fill in any holes they havd dug crazg i know but its been like that for years so what you found was most likely what someone missed. But its entirely up to yoh how you prospect :)

    The hard boiled eggs may have been because Easter was 2 weeks before this video 😂 Am not sure if its just a Scottish thing but on easter you paint eggs and roll them down hills.

    @KleshGuitars where in Bonny Scotland were you at? Tyndrum is one of the best places to find gold as long as you don't go in the gold packed mine as it's owned by Austrilia. sadly they can't mine the gold there as they want to dump the rubbish around the mine and the mine is right in the heart of a national protected park,they were told they can mine it but anything they pull out other than gold has to be put back in like it was and thats why that mine is still sitting there in limbo.

    I visited Inverness and drove south to Edinburgh, then west to Glasgow. I also flew down to London but didn't do anything there as far as treasure hunting (other than geocaching).

  • @Klesh

    @Klesh

    Dirt won't have gold like sand, because the sand it heavy and is much more likely to have bits of gold trapped with it. Cool idea though, thanks for watching
