    Couple of questions, how did they mine do much of this stuff hundreds and thousands of years ago? There’s more gold in sunken ships around the world than there is mined gold I believe. And where does all that waste water go? Are the other metals still used or usable after this process? I’m genuinely curious and hope something finds this.

  • @5astelija75

    @5astelija75

    2 жыл бұрын

    As the years go by, the harder it gets to find gold. By the same logic, gold was much easier to "mine" thousands of years ago. There were actual gold nuggets lying on beaches and stuff. Waste water treatment depends on the mine, all kinds of environmental disasters have happened. Other valuable minerals are captured alongside gold.

    Depending on the ore source, the crudely refined gold bar also may contain other precious metals, such as silver, platinum, and palladium. They mined 1M grams (a metric ton) of rock, crudely processed the gold-bearing parts, and got only 6 grams of Au within a resultant metal chunk at about .8 fineness. So, it's about 7.5 grams, with 1.5 grams of other stuff, such as Cu, Zn, Ag, Pt, Pd, etc. One troy ounce of gold is exactly 31.1034768 grams, and its pure form peaked at $2048 on 2023/05/10.
