When the bonds reach their maturity date, you won't need to sell them. Instead, the equivalent value of gold at that time will be automatically credited to your bank account.

AFAIK, SGBs can be pledged for collateral margin at Zerodha and Goldbees are allowed for pledging in some platforms

@@venkatesanm9012 sorry..what do you mean by that? It is a kind of SIP where I invest 12.5k a month for 30 months and get 4.8lacs..it is a kind of short term investment where you get 20% sip return. After 30 months I can take the money and start fresh or I leave the money with them and I would get interest of 24% which would make additional investment of 9.6k per month on the existing 12.5k per month. This time I would get 9.6lacs after 30 months... To make it short, I get 13.5lacs in just 60 months with a monthly investment of 12.5k.

@@pleasesmile346 i think it is not a good idea.Fist am not sure how much you will get per one gram after purity verification n commission..it depends on the shop or entity (such as Muthoot Gold point).Not sure what is you buy price. If it really gives profit for you by selling this gold coin u can sell it..but do not invest all again in sovereign gold bonds..u can invest in good stocks such as ITC, HCL Technologies, Divislab, IDFC First Bank to name a few.Also u can put some portion in Gold bees as you are ready to wait for a long time such as 8 years..by that time you will get good profit from all these shares and also you will get good dividend from all these stocks.hope it clarifies n helps .. thanks

There's no need to sell the SGB at its maturity date; the amount will be automatically added to linked bank account, so there's no need to worry about liquidity.
