Gold Cube, getting 1 ounce of gold. (how long?)

How long does it take to get one ounce of gold with a gold cube?
Well let me show you. Well I will show you how long it would take me to get one ounce of gold with the gold cube, and gold cube trommel, on some pretty hot ground on the Fraser river. This is some of the best ground I have ever seen, so this result is better than one might expect normally. The gold cube trommel works fantastically on these Fraser river gravels.
In fact I think this calculation is far better than I could actually do as the ground was getting worse and worse as the time went on. But I still recovered some very nice gold. The gold cube is great at fine gold recovery.
This video is produced by Dan Hurd, Prospector, Miner, Teacher and KZreadr, as part of his KZread channel based on educational videos about gold mining, gold panning, prospecting, rock hounding, and mineral collecting.

I don't think that's much of an issue since its just the golds weight causing the dropout. Notice in the tub most of the *really* heavy stuff drops to the bottom and his pump is near the top ensuring the water stays relatively clean.

This is a very useful video. Did you replace your high banker with the gold cube trommel? I have a GC but was manually classifying. The trommel is revolutionary as far as materials processed but a high banker is lower cost? Did you notice a major performance difference? With manual classification I am seriously thinking rocker box might out perform it because of it's classifier and no battery. Trommel is heavy

Thanks! I wish all the ground was this rich. Montana is a beautiful state - I know the family wants to get back there for some prospecting.

My spot My digging My Machinery. You forgot My GOLD 🙊 Good job Dan. Still proves my theory that hard 8 hr days one the Fraser should net a decent wage. Of coarse it's the "Hard" is the part that puts off most people. Still there is nothing like knowing.....😉 Ya, ya gotta do it to get it. Keep them coming Dam.

I would say your best bet is the highbanker you move more yardage than the planning and gold cube. Granted gold cube catches more but overall it's about the end result. Keep up the great work.

I am presuming these river gravels are from mid river at mich lower water level at start of winter. Have often wondered how much gold is streaming past in the rapid river flow, while you pan material from among rock grooves at shore line

Just another observation that time didn’t include cleaning up the gold cube and cleaning it out and Panning out the gold that takes a little bit of time on its own. Great video thanks for putting it up

Which do you like better over all? Gold cube or high banker? Taking in account all thing equal. Thanks for the extra effort sharing this hobby with us.

they both have their places. Gold cube is great at cleaning up gold. High banker can go through a lot of material. Depends on the situation.

What determines the shape of gold you find? Most of the Fraser stuff you've shown; is a flat coin style of gold... Is it the shape of the rocks it's bouncing around?

  • @Danhurd
