GoKart Ep.2 - replacing corroded frame tubes

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

With the jig made in the last video we can make a start replacing some of the corroded frame tubes, not too difficult a task with a good pipe bender & one by one they are replaced sucessfully - here's how we did it...
Enjoy

I have a 12 ton one of those pipe benders, had it since the late 90's it has bent two inch 3mm wall and just this week I have been bending scaffold poles to make a tent for a tractor without any problems and scaffold tube is 48mm dia with 4mm wall. Best to lay those benders flat on the floor to use them and chal the bend angle you want onto the floor also bend a piece of 6mm rod to the correct angle and sight up the tube between the line and rod, check your spring back as well as the tube will always spring back a bit so you need to go a tad over but not too much.

Frame does appear to be over built! Some good tips in this, especially the clamped angle piece used to line the tubes up. I did have to watch through my fingers on two occasions though.

That's some heavy built go cart with tubing that thick. Not made in china 😂
