Yeah Gojira!

Gojira is well known for their "Mantras". Some people find it really annoying that they sometimes just "sit" on a riff or phrase, sometimes with minor modulations and sometimes not, but they really are often themselves working into a trance during performance. These songs are not the majority of their work, but every album has a few or more that somtimes get extended to ridiculous degrees during live performances. This is why on album they have so many fade outs in their songs. Sometimes they just like to add a bar, or maybe minutes of grooving that same riff when live. The most extreme example of this is the "Where Dragons Dwell" LIVE at Hellfest, that extension at the end is ridiculous. For more songs to check out, do also consider the "Global Warming" STUDIO LIVE set. Because that's vocally absolutely raw. It also exemplifies the extreme end of their "mantra" songs, where they just chill on a riff for most of the song, with very subtle variations. It's quite extreme example of it, but it is a recurring thing for them.

Glad you enjoyed this performance, yeah Gojira's live shows are definitely a spiritual, hypnotic experience. Speaking of Mario, it would be great if you could listen to some of his solo compositions to see how phenomenal he is and how much emotion and energy he does put into his drumming. For future reactions I recommend these: Global Warming (live at Silver Cord Studio NYC) Toxic Garbage Island (live at Hellfest 2016) Silvera (live at Red Rocks) ... and other songs ofc. Cheers 🤘

I have seen Gojira live four times, they are the best live band I've personally ever seen. My absolute favorite band along with Meshuggah and Cannibal Corpse.

My favorite song from Gojia it always makes me sad and happy I'm so glad you guy's enjoyed it.

This was the video that made me an instant fan. The bring the heavy, the pretty, and the philosophical all in one cut, ending with an absolutely hypnotic outro... Truly Epic.

Y’all should listen to Clone by Gojira next as it’s an absolute MONSTER of a song. Would definitely go with the studio version to get the full effect (they slow the live version down in some parts)

Their show at Red Rocks (or anywhere) is spectacular.

I had a chance to see them live. At that moment, trust me, you don't want this song to end.

I am still amazed that backbone havn't entered any of their try not to headbang challanges.

I was there a day or two before this at the Manchester academy. Literally not missed a gojira gig here the last 5 or 6 times they have been in the UK. And they are the last band I saw live in July 2019 for my birthday. They just get better and better Should check out heaviest matter of the universe from this gig..or when Joe has short hair maybe about 2017 I think, their light set up was friggin ace. 🤘

All of Gojiras live performances are incredible, HOWEVER you will get suggestions to watch certain performances from the Vieilles Charrues festival, I DO NOT recommend you watch those as the recording quality is quite poor. You'll be better off listening to the studio versions of songs like The art of dying and Toxic garbage island.

Completely agree. Art of Dying in particular is much better as a studio song.. mostly because it seems hard for Joe to recapture the vocals live.

this concert is great , you can listen to backbone form the same live . Or "the heaviest matter of the universe "one of their biggest hit from the same concert ,but it might be not available ,depends of the country ,otherwise when it comes to "the heaviest matter of the universe " usually people listen to the live at vieilles charrues , wich is great but the sound recording is compressed, so i recommend listenening to the studio version , the live at brixton ,the live at hellfest 2013 , the live at eurockennes 2009 or even the live in poland 2019 for a better sound

You really should go to see them live if they ever pass near your location. I saw them back in 2006 (Hellfest) and 2007 and it was really cool. Definitely a live band. If you've liked these drops, for something heavy : Frontierer - The Molten Larva. Unmatched guitar tone.

No. That song live never works. The sound is bad in every live recording. It's hectic enough song that they NEED to hear the studio version to appreciate it.

We put out 2 a day but we only record twice a week at the moment. The editing process takes a while but we’re enjoying it more and more every time we do it. 😀
