Saw them open up in Kansas City in 07 with Machine Head, Trivium, and Lamb of God. My brother and I got there early and hit the bar at the back of the club. They came out to Flying Whales, so that slow intro started right after the lights went off. They all come out lookin' like Metallica from the 80's, all in black and wristbands. We started walking up to the stage and that shit hit... it was like we were walking in to a wall. There's no describing it. I was instantly hooked. There were a lot of memorable moments from that show, but to this day, my brother and I still talk about the first time Gojira hit us in the face with sound. No lookin' back since.

Indeed. The Festival itself is organized as a 'thank you' to the volunteers for the - pardon my bad translation - Great Orchestra for the Holiday Help, which is a non-profit organization with a goal of collecting money for the hospital equipment, mostly for sick children. Festival itself is paid for by the sponsors and the attendance is free for everyone.

It is not that much about the nationality as about the fest itself. It's Polish Woodstock festival. However, they had to change the name of the fest last year. It is the biggest open air free festival, no tickets, hence so many people. And it actually doesn't matter if it is metal or reggae concert. There is no other place like that in the whole country, it is an enclave of real freedom. This is our sacred place and we celebrate each concert there that way. We warmly invite you to come and be happy with this extraordinary community we have there. The fest takes place on the Polish-German border on the first weekend of August. If Gojira wins the Golden Spinning award in the voting of Woodstock fans, they should come again to receive the award. This is how it usually works with Woodstock. However, big foreign bands rarely come for the award.

If bands allow they upload these recordings to their official youtube kzread.info, or like in this case the bands upload themselves. The bassist is badass af , hope he doesn't get brain damage tho , you guys have no idea how lucky you are , it's musicians like that bassist who literally gives it his all blood sweat and tears to perform is what made me fall in love with metal , Thank you monsieur Jean-Michel Labadie , 44 years of age what a savage , beautiful musicians and a beautiful concert , i am mind blown , beautiful crowd and the sound engineers who worked on this are out of this world , just a big thank you for everyone who contributed to this masterpiece , this one is for the pages of history

I've watched this many times, and the one thing I can't get over is the beauty of this live version of Backbone. Joe added all these pretty melodic vocal touches you don't hear in the album version, and it's wonderful. I almost love this live version more than the album version

I was in the crowd that day. Didn't know Gojira before and it was pretty spontaneous. After like 10 minutes I realized that they were actually pretty good and the show just keeped getting better. Together with the overall atmosphere and the crowd I would say that this was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The entire festival has an atmosphere that you don't see that much nowadays. Barely any phones at all and everybody is just living the moment. Definitely worth the 450 km car drive.
