They just don't have that many haters, actually. Too interesting of a band to hate, and this is coming from someone who doesn't LOVE them, but hey, the vocals are great, the grooves are cool, the riffs are there, and so is the energy, so what's to hate? It's pretty good metal. Ghost, for an example, has so many haters it gets crazy sometimes.

saw them live two years ago as opener for Rammstein (without knowing who they are) and let me tell you the part at 3:55 was the most brutal sound and feeling I've ever experienced...even this tremendous mix doesn't even remotely resemble what it actually sounds like. His voice shatteres through your whole body and leaves nothing but awe

For whoever cares, the multitrack recording of that show was mixed by Raphaël Bovey, a swiss engineer working at MyRoom Studio in Lausanne. He's friends with Johann Meyer, Gojira's official soundguy, and was asked by the band to mix some live recordings and also remaster the latest reissue of the Terra Incognita album.

It's actually fretting noise from the bass guitar. (If you'd turn up the gain on an OH mic so far that you can hear the swish of a drumstick flying past, the cymbals and drums would give you nothing but clipping.) It's a pretty good illusion though!

Jean-Michel prooves that you don't need long hair for a hardcore headbanging action. Man, you stole the show!

shirok shor Gojira is definitely up there. Every Time I Die was amazing live. Saw Norma Jean and Misery Signals when it was still the old Norma Jean singer. Black Dahlia Murder was probably the best. The most memorable was AFI years ago when they were on the Art Of Drowning tour. I’ll have to dig through my old ticket stubs to see if I missed any.

I saw them at the 02 in 2016 supporting Alter Bridge.I'd been listening to them for a couple of years so I knew what to expect.They almost tore the roof off the place.Incredible performance by a phenomenal band.Glad I found this video.Awesome!

I like Gojira, but metal bands don't go cry in the corner. No matter how badly they get crushed. They bend, break, whither in your face with a face full of mush, cracked teeth, and a blood soaked smile.

These guys are so sober and full of power and passion.

That drummer is unbelievable. I am in awe, he is immense. The band is.

I once saw them perform in yellow pants and rainbow shirts. It was jarring. To clarify, I was wearing yellow pants, and they were all in black.

Pandemic introduced me to this band. "Flying Whales" is the first Gojira's song i listened to, about two years ago in my college years but not really into it. Last year i finally dig into it. "Stranded" is the second Gojira's song that i like because it is relatively easy to listen than the other song (such as Vacuity, Gift of Guilt, etc) "The Heaviest Matter of the Universe" is definitely the best Gojira's song in my opinion. Heavy, heavy, heavy. Crazy Mario Duplantier at his peak. This month i am really into "Backbone" and "Remembrance".

The thing that amazes me the most about metal bands is the synchronization between the guitar and the kicks. The technical skill is incredible to me.

no doubt about it! is fantastic. But I try to say that when he play "slow" rhythms, he hits like he'll destroy all, but when he play double bass drum he's plays tight as a statue, and hits with less force.

In a world where many people put Jimmy Sullivan (The Rev) and Joey Jordison on a pedestal for modern metal over all the other drummers,I think it’s safe to say he’s underrated. No offense to The Rev and Joey Jordison - they’re terrific drummers - but Mario is easily better than them. I understand why they’re put on a pedestal (popularity),but they’re not the best modern metal has to offer.
