@@thedudethatplaysguitar9882 so damn true! Glad the band I was in, always took over the mixing at the shows we did because the sound guys barely had me in the pa. One show I remembered my singer told the guy that we needed the bass to be heard because everyone needed to hear the shit I was playing. I mean, I was compared to Ryno many a times. Which is funny because I did live 2 cities from the guy before they got signed on.

It's well done and effective, and also why it comes across so powerful. Which is why when bands become mega huge they use screens and full production crew to project the performance with cuts and pans and effects onto the screens in a way that gives it movement and makes it more exciting than it is. IE: Metallica has been doing it for decades and they pack stadiums wherever they go.

I bought a bag of milk and for some reason brought it with me to the show. Next thing you know I'm backstage with the band hanging out, and I ask Mario.. "veux tu du lait?" (would you like some milk?) and he's like "No, no, je suis vegan.." (sorry, I'm vegan.) I said ok, left the bag on the table, and asked Joe if he wanted some. He said "that's gross.. it's probably sour by now.." Then I'm suddenly in the crowd listening to them play Silvera. Like I said.. weird dream.

I like how easy it is to focus on the drums in Gojira. A bunch of crazy shredders make it hard to focus on what other intruments might be doing, but Gojira is more about the riffs and melody which I like sometimes. A Plus about Goijra is that all the vocals even the clean ones are pretty unique unlike a lot of newer Metalcore bands.

Hes good in the sense he sings in pitch or key, like what Corey Taylor does, but I wouldnt say the best. But Devin Townsend still remains the most versatile vocalist in metal. No one can scream and go into clean vox within a bar like he can.

Dave Grohl killed it this night. Spot on. This performance is proof that he’s the best drummer ever. He can literally play any genre. So under appreciated.

I was having a conversation the other day about my top 5 favorite metal bands of ALL time and decided that Gojira is in that list simply because not only is their music just straight up bad assery, there is no other band in music let alone metal, that sounds like Gojira. They are truly that original. Btw I loved Joe’s hair when it was long like this. Sooo Metal!

OROBORUS *First song from “The Way of All Flesh,” it is a song very regularly played live.* *It features riffs played with tapping, a guitar technique involving using two hands to fret the notes instead of one.* serpent of light *The Oroborus (or Ouroboros) is an ancient symbol of regeneration featuring a snake in a circle consuming its tail. This symbol embodies regeneration or rebirth, similar to a phoenix, but contrary to a phoenix there is no definite start or end to the Oroborus; it is eternal.* movement of the soul crawling stately along the spine mighty Phoenix from the ashes arises firebird cycle of life, regenerate the cell *In this album, Gojira deal with the impending nature of death and its effects on spirituality and nature alike. Hence, in this line, we see the juxtaposition of ‘Firebird’ (a Phoenix, a spiritual symbol) and ‘Cell’ (scientific term). As before, these lines deal with regeneration.* life burns fierce, reduced to ashes *Life burns fierce in its eternal regeneration. It is reduced to ashes, which carries on with the theme of the album (especially prominent in the title track, The Way of all Flesh).* *Continuing with the phoenix motif, a phoenix is “reduced to ashes” when it dies. However, it is reborn from those same ashes in order to live anew.* resurrection from the flame *This line continues the imagery of Phoenixes and rebirth from flames. The life cycle of the phoenix, in essence, is self-consumption through flame and rebirth from the ashes.* ageless process quest for absolution, out of bounds introspect *Introspection is defined as the examination of one’s own thoughts or feelings, and hence while the soul, or person in question, is ‘out of bounds’, it still observes its own thoughts.* self-consuming womb *The womb is the organ in which pregnancy occurs (this album features a multitude of relatively scientific/biological terms). Hence, a self-consuming womb will always consume, or destroy the soul that it creates. However, carrying on with the theme of rebirth in this song, the self-consuming womb will live again in a never-ending circle - an oroborus.* ever-present, meet no end *Omnipresence or ever-presence denotes a state of existence in which a being will always be present. In this case, the omnipresence of the soul will meet no end.* it seems like I always knew this since I'm a child, I can feel it *The protagonist of the song has always known that their soul is in a state of endless regeneration. This continues the theme of regeneration, and possibly is a reference to Hindu mysticism wherein the state of life and the being is in perpetual regeneration. The theme of Hindu mysticism in this album is continued with Yama’s Messengers.* my inner light everlasting revolving within a circle extended wings I'm flying over the valleys and planes the curve of space I'm leaving *The wings in these lines may refer to:* *The ‘literal’ Wings of the Phoenix.* *A metaphor for the journey of the soul over the earth, perhaps reaching a higher spiritual plane. This links to the next line, ‘leaving the curve of space’.* death is just an illusion oroborus symbol of eternal life dig a tunnel for light through ignorant walls I'm counting the days, but I'm dying grow up with impatience, I'm falling down on the peaks of radiant mountains this truth is growing before me my attention fixed on this silence rediscover life while I'm breathing designing the shape of material frozen icon distant reminder mankind has forgotten the gateways by the mouth of the serpent regenerate
