We love back roads! I love Rand McNally and my Gazetteers maps. Great for the backcountry.
Totally agree. I can’t travel without seeing the big picture. (Not on a 3 x 5 inch screen!) I have one atlas in the house for planning, and one in the van for traveling. Great video! Beautiful!
I love my road atlas! Never go anywhere without it. This video has me wanting to go on a road trip to the Pacific Northwest! There is nothing that I have found that compares to the temperate rainforests out that way. I have a motto I try to remember, “If I’m in a hurry, I must be in a worry!”. As Bobby McFerrin sang, “Don’t worry, Be happy!”. That is my anthem that I try to live by in life! And isn’t that what “Carey On!” is all about? Carey On!

Absolutely:) But also…yesterday we sat in the camper and watched it rain for about 12 hours😂

@@CareyOnVagabond ah yes, I’ve been there too. My last year outfitting, it rained nearly everyday that summer. It’s hard to really be happy when everything is soggy. Stay dry and Carey on!
Detroit Cafe has a great breakfast. We also bought a coffee mug.
We travel with a NatGeo Atlas, a motor carrier atlas, a Garmin GPS, and my wife’s phone (she’s the navigator)…and a pile of folding paper maps. Maryanne is so immersed in navigating that she rarely sees the sights.😂

Exactly....i am there with Rand McNally. Its the same boating. Its the roads secondary, thurdary, lol, thatvmost people miss that are the most beautiful places we have in the world. Its those little way out places that keep their specialness. Once people move in, there are always some who spoil it for everyone else. Love your show. Love Rand McNally of course Pistol is looking goid. Take care darlins. Take care and stay ❤❤❤safe.

Thank you❤️❤️
Great spots. Being solo and towing my jeep, I might be nervous going down roads like that. I am missing a lot.
Thanks again. Happy Father's Day, Dave.

Thank you!❤️
Totally agree Dave...GPS is great but a map is essential. I got one for my BF for his birthday last year and he uses it so much that it already looks like it's 10 years old LOL Beautiful woods in Oregon my friends...Carey on! xoxo Cella & Sugar

Thanks!!
Great map guide! We also still use our 2013 Microsoft Streets & Trips for many back roads. Talk about adventure, try Elk City ID to Darby MT by way of Magruder Corridor! Beautiful, scenic, off the beaten path. That's where we set Starlink out in the river for clear sky. Really miss being out there. 😢

We’ve been to both of those places many times but I don’t think we’ve been on that road. We must remember that! Thanks!

View that route very thoroughly, wife was surprised by the nearly 100 mile dirt road. Came across NF service maintenance crew at a stop/overlook and asked "who has right-away". Their reply, "vehicle with most lug nuts!" 😅
Yep. I have the apps, but I just bought a new spiral bound road atlas (it was actually cheaper than the regular one). Nothing like getting the big picture on an old-time map. 😊

I'll be out in Oregon Mar - May next year just hanging out...decompressing...relaxing. Have vrbo's in Coos Bay, Cascades and Florence. Would like to check out Bend at some point. You should have thrown a rooster tale in the river behind that one camping spot you found, looks pretty fishy. Nice area.
Worth it.

@@patriciaburke8729 there are many roads like this here!
From Rand McNally to state Gazetter atlas for more detail before phone, and sometimes Google Earth for remote and beautiful. Looked like a bonus having pavement, and no traffic.

Google earth is great for searching remote areas! Oregon has a number of single lane paved forest service roads!
that looked like a forest service road ,you never know what your going to get .

We even saw a bobcat!
You've likely already driving it, but if not, state highway 402 through Kimberly and Monument is a super awesome drive right now. Lots of family farming going on. John Day river is clear and making lots of pleasing noise. Plenty camping and small parks on the route.

I love my atlas. I just bought a new one and it's kind of weird that it doesn't just fall open or have dogeared pages. I've had many a lovely drive thanks to my atlas.
