Going to See A Man About A Cow

Our milk cows are aging and on the decline. It's time for us to look for replacement milk cows so we travel to "Our Father's Farm" in VA to look for them.

Don’t misinterpret what the boys said…that their dad made it fun. Their dad probably made them feel proud of themselves for contributing. And that makes the chores more pleasant and inwardly rewarding. You say things to your kids that let them know you value them and are proud of them. They will love the land as you do. Good job Justin!

I have often thought you were more interested in filming your videos than you are in your children. I can only imagine how that makes your children feel. Your oldest son is amazingly smart and pays attention to what is going on. He has great ideas and I feel like over the past year or so he doesn't get the recognition he deserves. I understand your making a living, but, it might be nice if you just focused on your kids for a day here and there. Just a Grandmas' insight of how fast the time goes.

I’ve had an idea about how to bring more fun into the farm life routine. With your network of homestead friends you could have the kids swap around and work on each other’s farms and make it a work party with camp outs games, movies on the lawn, fishing, hiking, etc. just mix it up a little. 😄

Greetings from Metro Detroit Michigan! While there's not much homesteading in our suburban area, my wife and I love watching your videos. She actually started long before me and I sort of leeched on a few months ago...haha. Personally, even though homesteading isn't in our immediate future, I find you to be extremely inspirational. Whether it's your health battles, or seeing your amazing bond with your family, I feel refreshed and inspired after each episode. I've been going through my own issues recently and truly appreciate someone like you being out there spreading hope and encouragement to those of us who will probably never get to meet you in person. Keep up the great work, and THANK YOU!!

Hardboiled eggs cooked for 3 minutes with a cup of water in the instapot or pressure cooker are so easy to peel. You have to put something like a silicone basket in the bottom so they do not sit on the bottom of the pot.

This is a wonderful family you went to visit and I was very impressed with the 19 year olds comment regarding why he wants to stay on the farm and how happy he’s been growing up there😊❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ this is a great tribute to his parents and siblings both because farm life is hard work but as he pointed out, there was a balance of work and fun and you had time off from work. There were 12 children in my family and it was not due to religious reasons but my parents make sure we played games throughout the week and they participated WITH US, IN THOSE GAMES❣️❣️ We were not sent off to play by ourselves but rather they joined in and this was something we learned to look forward to, whether it was a board game such as chess or Carroms or A multitude of card games for different age of children… Not even knowing that we were learning math or, in the game of Life & Monopoly, actually learning math and finance issues to help you in the adult world. We also played a lot of mind games such as I’m taking a vacation and I need to remember to pack? And then you had to do the entire A through Z memorization game where everyone picks something but then you had to also list everything that has been said before you. We play this when we travel together and this is a very challenging game but we learn to think and be smart always using our brain when we played together… Even in baseball when we played game 500 where each type of always worth a certain amount of points. I really love that game until you got hit in the stomach with a fast-moving bouncy ball. My parents were always very good to hit gently out to us but I had an older brother was not so thoughtful. Anyway, as I was saying about the older son/middle-age son actually, it is a tribute to the parents when a child can see the positive and one to remain on the farm…The nice thing about having a larger family also is that everyone knows what your job is and when you can do it well it makes things easier to be organized. This was a beautiful farm and beautiful towels… I happen to love jersey and brown Swiss Cows…They are excellent for dairy production! And they have beautiful brown eyes you’re very gentle. Another bonus about a large family is more hands to keep the farm organized and clean looking and this was a beautiful farm… Something for the whole family to be proud of. And yes, you always have moments when you get tired of whatever you’re doing because it is hard work but it’s also very very rewarding and that was obvious when you walked into the store and saw the amazing amount of quality food products available for purchase and all of those children and the parents were proud of a job well done.😊❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ By the way, my mother froze pretty much everything and wax paper or Bread bags that we saved and washed & Re-purposed however was needed. Some of them were cut open on the sides and then we could put it between pie crust layers although there was also wax paper on the pie crust first!!!It works very well❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️

You have to start out with room temperature it would help. You have to measure out enough of water boil the water and then put in your eggs. After they boil for 5 minutes take them out put them in very cold tap water.Tap to top to bottom. Tap tap tap and it will practically kill itself if you get one that's slightly stubborn just put it back into the cold water to do another one let the water loosen the shell for you done a dozen will take you maybe a minute kid you not.

I thought y'all were strength training for better health. Play with your kids. My parents worked all the time and never took time to play with us. They would take us to our ball games, but they didn't bond with play. After, my niece and nephews were born they played with them, and I was taken aback.

Scolding totally outta love 💖 ... Eating chili or anything else is just as distracting & dangerous as driving & talking on cell phone! Mama you are an example to your soon to be driving on the road kiddos. We need to be careful what our examples tempt them to use as an excuse for making poor decisions. My true intent is not in anyway to be mean. Just a mom of 3 boys & 1 girl too. Sometimes I didn't think until someone who cared pointed out the impact of my example may have a forever negative consequence on my children's choices in the future. Sweetie, just pull over & eat your chili & drive safe! Godbless & love to you & your family. 💖
