Thank you for sharing. Made me think of my Grandma and Mom.

The “waxy stuff” is bees’s wax. You pull your thread across it to condition it. When you sew with conditioned thread it pulls through the fabric more smoothly and lessens fraying and twisting. The things you keep calling buttons are snaps. The denim squares are patches for fabric repairs.

Try the pinking shears out on a scrap of fabric! Thanks for taking me down memory lane!

Tailor Tacker for marking things like darts on a dress or blouse. I’m sure I have many of the same things in my Mom’s sewing stuff!

The little pink item that looks like a seam ripper is used for things like sweaters that have a pulled thread. You push the hook through from the back of your sweater, hook the loose thread and the hinged piece will close over the hook and you can pull the loose thread to the inside.

WHAT!!! That's so cool! I didn't even know a tool like that existed. I have a few snagged sweaters I'm going to use this on now. Thank you so much!

You’re welcome. I looked up the pinking shears by the manufacturer’s name because I was curious. The zigzag part pushes against the solid wheel to cut the fabric. They still make them today ($94). It is a neat tool.

My mom had that exact same green sewing box, also the had embroidery patterns if I remember correctly you lay them face down on the fabric and iron them and the pattern transfers to the fabric. My mom had some when I was little you can probably google It but I believe that’s how it transferred!
