Going Off Grid Ep 14 Shed Cabin Interior fit out pt1
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video Judy and I get to work lining the walls and ceiling of the shed cabin. We used Easy VJ for the walls which is said to be treated for termite resistance and it's pretty easy to fit. The ceiling is corrugated roofing (Surf Mist colour). We chose the roof sheeting as it suits a shed build and again it's easy to install and relatively maintenance free.
We hope you enjoy the video - Love to see you in the comments.
Regards
Scott and Judy

Hello Judy and Scott, I am shocked and stunned at how far you have come in such a short time. Congratulations to you both on getting this far so quickly. It is lovely to see your progress and watch you on your journey. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us all. Rob The Wayward Woodworker hit the nail on the head. Take no notice of the complainers on how you either do things or say things. Keep up the great work my friend, Looking forward to the next instalment. Love and Respect from North London UK xxx

Huge thanks Trev! For us the build seems to be taking ages, but we can now see the finish line at last. I only added my little part about how I talk for a bit of extra flavour :) All the very best Trev!
I so enjoy your videos. Your workmanship is top notch and I love how you two are both working together on this future home. You are down to earth solid folks which I find very refreshing.

Our three boys are all grown up and living in their own homes so you'd think that I'd get to lick out the bowl too. But, somehow, there always seems to be at least one of them here at bowl licking time. Progress is amazing guys. Wendy cracked up when I showed her Judy's upside-down feet holding the corrugated iron up.

Good to see you put in additional insulation...i did similar with the reasoning that insulation is pretty cheap and makes a massive difference to the feel and efficiency of the house...and if you have the space, why not! Looking really good, love the vdj paneling, great choice.

Hi Judy and Scott, I just love your very informative and common sense ‘We are working it out as we go’ (I’m not sure if you said that but you know what I mean) I always look forward to your next video as you never know when you need this information to build your next off grid accommodation. I’m 72 now but never say never 😂. Cheers Steve from Melbourne (Aust) 🇦🇺 (Oh I do know you are in Queensland the land of great weather and I am in the land of poor weather and also our Premier is Lock U Up Dan Andrews)

Hey Scott I totally agree about painting. I’m sure if I chose being a painter as an apprenticeship, I would have pulled the pin after about an hour. Lining that cabin is when you’ll appreciate the time you took to have everything square. You and Jude are a great team, it looks awesome. That insulation is worth the effort👍 Cheers Pete

Thank you Dave! For the ceiling we originally liked plywood, however $$ and it does put a lot of extra weight on the upper structure, so we went corro. We are happy all the same.
For my garage build. I used an aluminium C channel to the bottom of a ply sheet and it prevents any water absorbing and looks great as a finished skirting. Might be hard to add once sheets on the wall. Neat job your doing well done.

Hey guys, we're up in the Tablelands now after travelling through the outback and NT. Can see why you chose this area, it's beautiful around here (although a little soggy at present). Noticed you only insulated (inshulated haha) the ceiling above the mezzanine ... was that a cost factor? Great progress ... keep up the good work.
@ScottTurnerformeindustrious
8 ай бұрын
Thanks @startrucklife5761 We have been been visiting the area for years. The Tablelands are so beautiful and the weather is more moderate (not as hot as Townsville). We in a shed liner first and all other walls and ceiling have bats except the very end wall. I was procrastinating when everyone said we wouldn't need it but in the end we though it will help keep a good temp inside and help with noise insulation as well. All the best!
You want to leave a 20ish mm air gap between the foil and bulk insulation to allow the foil to achieve it's insulative value.
@ScottTurnerformeindustrious
8 ай бұрын
That's right. I have about 30+ in the ceiling even with the bats. 100mm Purling plus 35mm batten helped me keep the spacing. I think the batts are 90mm
Hi there, great job. Are you installing any flashing on the ridgeline between the sheet of iron or leaving it open?

Between the verandah and main roof? That just has the verandah sheets weathered (Pan bent up). At the ridge it has a ridge cap. Hope this helps.

Brilliant work. Wonderful to watch. As a most impractical person it gives me the opportunity to 'build' a shed vicariously! Interested to know why you didn't opt for additional insulation in the void between the lining boards and the refelctix?

Thank you Dieter! I have only one wall without the wool insulation. That was when I was in two minds. For all the other walls I decided to spend the cash and make sure it was well insulated. Have to see how it all goes this summer. So far so good.
