By far my favorite Indian KZread channel. It is would be an understatement to call this mere 'content' even if one were to add a superlative before the word like 'superb content' or 'fantastic content'. This is more than mere content, especially since as he himself points out in many of the videos, these are practices and ways of life that are quickly dying out or becoming obsolete as the whiff of modern conveniences reaches such a cut-off and neglected area as Zanskar. It's probably a good thing in some ways at least because although it may seem like a novel, interesting, or even an adventurous way to live from the vantage point of our lifestyles flushed with modern comforts, it also involves a lot of drudgery and back-breaking work and I think better connectivity and some mechanical aid won't be a bad thing for these hard-working people. Anyway, the point is that due to various reasons the lives and lifestyles being showcased in many of these videos will not exist as they do today in even a decade. Therefore, these videos serve as high-quality documentary evidence of how life is lived by many in far-flung corners of this country. Lives that are unique, difficult, full of compassion for each other and for their surroundings, and most importantly lives that are full, complete in ways different from own but complete nonetheless. So, I'd like to thank you for doing what you are doing, I believe you do it mainly for yourself since you seem to be enjoying what you do, which I think is often, if not always one of the best ways to do something meaningful. But in doing so, in doing something that you seem to enjoy and find meaning in, you are also helping to bring to light a world that may not exist a few years down the line. To say nothing of the spillover effect of these videos in making us question our own narrative of what it means to live a life, and to live it well, what it means to live with difficulty built into the fabric of our existence as if often the case with the lives you bring to light for us, and what it means to find compassion and a semblance of rhythm within such a life, which these people seem to be managing much better than us. These are questions so many of us grapple with in our day-to-day lives and in showing us lives so radically different from our own and yet, as I mentioned, seemingly convivial and complete, I think you are also helping many of us find a clue, a correct piece that lodges into the jig-saw puzzle of life and I'd like to sincerely thank you for that. Best, D

after having 3 drinks down...I play your videos at repeat. I've been there in Ladakh for 4 years and through your videos I get connected to a world of compassion, a life exists in novels, poetry. thanks buddy 🎉
'Zem' - the wooden container was and is used to store the fermented barley that eventually will turn out and strained as 'chhang' - the local beer. Zem due to its huge volume of storage is often used as synonym to person who eats a lot. So, next time a ladakhi says, "ur stomach must be a zem' , u know what they mean! 😊

THE KZread is crowded with travel vloggers but you are the best. Your travel lots are more of a humble study work which explores & exhibits life, ways, customs & traditions of Ladakh. Great work.
Thank you for bringing this spectacular views and beautiful stories to us. May the mountains keep you calling and offering you such stories.
Successful people don't become that way overnight. What most people see at a glance wealth, a great career and purpose is the result of hard work and hustle over time. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life

As you said the food was the best in Ralakung, something about this video is also the best. This is so unique. So lovely. :) I would love to see the compilation of hard work you do to take one single walking shot (first fixing the camera, walking, coming back to pick up the camera) and so on, just like at 6:06 in this video.

Great video again, its 6 years since I was in Ladakh but I'm tsken back to that trip everytime I watch you. Unfortunately high mountains are not going to happen now as my brother who I've done my India trips has just been diagnosed with Parkinson's and those narrow passes and paths just wouldn't work.

You're a great motivation sir. I hope that these tribes/people get some special protection and reservation by the local and central government to preserve their culture as I've personally seen a lot of people from these tribes leaving their traditional activity for doing driving, mechanical, tourism jobs in Leh. Their reasons are also valid and obvious so i personally feel there should be some balance made between 1-culture, art, lifestyle and 2-Livelihood, survival

I am afraid that that it will be hard to reverse this issue you mentioned here. Most of the youngsters in these villages are not interested in doing agriculture anymore. Actually some youngsters from Ralakung have asked the government to give them lands close to Padum and are in the process of settling down there.

Its high time for India to move out from the reservation mentality. There are so many protections and reservations so much so that Indians are not treated equally. India should stop looking at the west but take lessons from Asian success stories , particularly China.
