Yo dude! Those coilovers adjust from the bottom by the looks of it. What you have done there is adjust the preload, making the ride a lot harsher! Notice the other locking ring at the bottom? Reset your preload and undo the bottom locking ring and adjust height from there

I think it looks great up higher with the shell on, more of a utilitarian mini overlander look and it suits it! But as you said you don’t need to justify any decisions to anyone if it’s what you want to do 👍

Would look great as a bit a little off-roader. I think some fairly subtle tubular bumpers, retro spot lights would look awesome! However, although off-road tyres would look cool and you will have no problems on the islands roads, they will be noisy and probably do head in when cruising at 40+ but would be cool looking so who cares😂(I also have no personal experience with off-road tyres so could be wrong I just hear the racket they make on other peoples trucks) also I dislike buying new tyres so i just buy part worns from cliftongrade because 30 quid for a full set of almost new tyres is unbeatable

Only one you have to justify it to is yourself. I'm fortunate enough to be in the position of not having to use my VW's as daily drivers. Also fortunate enough that if something happens I can tow them myself. At some point hopefully you'll be in the position of form over function. If you are thinking about bigger wheels and tires, think it through. You might be setting yourself up for just as many issues as lowering. Bigger tires with more traction can add a lot of noise and decrease fuel consumption. Is that something you can live with. If you can get a second set of wheels so that you could use the offroad tires only when you want to go camping. I live at almost 3000 meters in elevation on dirt roads. Thankful for the knobbies, but damn they can be annoying on the paved roads and long trips. And that's in a modern truck with heavy insulation. Good luck, it's fun to watch you learn the mechanical and also working through what is practical for you.
