I think the judge completely missed the dynamic of the family. It wasn’t just sisters fighting, the curly haired sister is a bully, and probably has been for a long time. Their parents have failed them by not recognising that it’s her who is wrong, and protecting their other daughter.

I agree with you! I think the judge was overcome with emotion regarding two sisters not talking to each other. It's a soft spot for her... There's a reason why that other twin left home, and the reason is that other twin!

Especially when he knew that he would not be receiving a bill from the VA. I have a hard time believing that he was actually in any form of the military, but if he was, then he isn't paying a dime for his medical care. He just wanted to get a couple thousand out of the defendant, and it didn't work. He strikes me as the kind of person who is quite comfortable sitting at home with his ass on the couch while she works and waits on him hand and foot. She looks very scared of him and afraid to say the wrong thing in front of him. Her father needs to step up and be a father and get that girl away from him. Yes, I do know the signs, I've been where she is numerous times, and unless she gets help, she'll never leave him. At least not alive.

Even now that I see a private doctor and the VA pays for it, I am not receiving a bill...I left the VA after I could no longer trust my VA doctor and the VA would not switch me to another. I was seeing a private doctor for 8 years but when my insurance dropped I asked the VA to cover me under the private doctor since they have been dealing with everything. Since then not one bill...So he's scamming...His case should be dropped just for that

It's wild that so many comments are saying he's innocent and the judge didn't even listen when...nothing he said ever made sense. Why'd he not mention the fight to his doctor? If you tell your doc your neck hurts and it's after chugging water upside down on a dare, that might not be the reason but it'd still be "Patient complains of neck pain after drinking copious amounts of water while updside down". Why say he never asked them for $900 to replace the phone when they have a piece of paper with his handwriting on it demanding $900? If the plaintiff sister was running away prior to the boyfriend, there's definitely a family problem going on. I believe the defendant sister has a problem. You can actually see it on her face. BUT for the boyfriend to put himself in the middle is a bad idea - bad idea. Now he's been made the scapegoat for the family drama.

The Plaintiff leaving because her twin was abusive towards her is so sad. She's moved several times trying to avoid her sister's temper. If the Plaintiff was rude/controlling, it's probably because all he's heard is that the Defendant treats his girlfriend horribly. "You weren't happy the sisters finally had some contact". The sister's were fighting, it wasn't positive contact. People saying the boyfriend is controlling... what did he do that was so bad, other than try to defend his girlfriend from someone HE WAS TOLD abused her? The Defendant said, "he doesn't want me talking to my sister". No, he doesn't want them FIGHTING. It's not easy to be in a relationship with someone that has such a volatile family. The Judge needs to realize some sisters are better not being close. Especially if one abuses the other.

I was really on the fence on this one, and really still am. But the one thing that struck me most by the end was the fact that regardless of how many times the plaintiff's girlfriend looked at him, even to the very end and the last interview and his last words and him walking out, he never looked at her once. Even when he was talking about her, not a single glance. When she's crying, nothing. When she's defending him, nothing. When she's looking to him for a reaction, he does not look at her. It's not foolproof, but it does give me a bad feeling in my gut.
