You are really quite lucky. I remember seeing this from the window back then when I visited Hong Kong. We immediately began to pack. As we were leaving the building, Godzilla's tail hit the top floors of the hotel building I was in. We ran with our lives and ass in our hands. It was a terrifying day.😢

@@mandalorian1282 Kong definitely seemed faster and more mobile dude. I think the biggest issue apart from the atomic breath was just Godzilla's sheer strength and size. He dislocated Kong's arm, threw him around like a pillow and had Kong completely pinned under his weight. The axe was the great equalizer here but once it was gone Kong never really stood much chance.

That is why his movies they seem centered on the Monke with Godzilla as a sort of supporting character, but riding the King's name on the title ahead of the Monke's. As said, Godzilla is KING of the Monsters, and Kong's history is to die in his other iterations. Kong was never to be stronger than Godzilla, even on the original Japanese King Kong vs Godzilla, he was even afraid to fight because Godzilla whooped his hairy butt. In the end they decided to give Kong some BS electric powers and somehow Godzilla being weak to Electricity (which makes absolutely no sense). And depending on the version, either the fight ends ambiguous, or Kong wins or Godzilla wins. Sure, Kong is faster and extremely more agile than Godzilla, but that hardly qualifies that he would be stronger with the Monsterverse tally of Godzilla's enemies whom were drastically stronger and powerful, agile and ferocious than Kong and a bit stronger than Godzilla as seen in KOTMs. But it's clear since the beginning of the GvK film that that lady that was studying Kong was protecting the Monke from Godzilla cause she knew that Godzilla would KILL the Monke. She clearly stated "There can't be two Alphas" "And Kong won't back down" and finally "Godzilla is going to kill him" which effectively, he did. If anything, I believe Wingard evolved Godzilla to be weaker now, and have him being at the same power and agility as the Monke, making him skinnier. Wingard said he loves the Showa Era of Godzilla... And that is not good, cause of the Power Ranger moves and wrestling moves Godzilla used to make there... So there's a premonition...

This isn't bias, Godzilla was the only titan to go head to head with King Ghidorah while Kong fought Camazotz who is bigger than him but smaller to Godzilla's size. Also, Godzilla was done with his bullshit, he's pissed off, that's Godzilla's own adrenaline

It really felt to me Godzilla was giving Kong a chance to surrender and by the middle of the fight Godzilla really just had enough of his shit and went all out and just dominated him. To me it seems Godzilla was shown being pretty merciful for the majority of the fight.

On top of actually being able to see the monsters unlike the previous movies, they did a good job showcasing the difference between the two rather than just having them mindlessly punch each other. Godzilla was clearly stronger in terms of sheer raw power and has the laser thing for range attacks, while Kong is clearly smarter and more agile able to fight more strategically on top of also being able to use weapons.

He was always so serious and only fought to become the alpha, i never considered godzilla enjoying hurting someone. he only fought ghidorah because he did not belong on earth and threatened its life and the mutos would obviously be aa threat to the big G with the power dampening thing which made godzilla's atomic breath less powerful

i like to think that Godzilla was smiling and laughing throughout this fight like some op dragon ball villain, he was like "finally a worthy opponent" cause like he starts with spamming the atomic breath but seeing that kong was smart enough to use tools and the axe to dodge it, he starts taking it seriously by going full on physical with punches, scratches and the tail hits. brilliant

0:35 notice how there’s spots on godzillas neck? Those could be from the MUTOs attacking since they kept going at his neck 0:51 is a reference to the original where King Kong puts a tree in Godzilla’s mouth from the Showa Godzilla series. The axe kong shoved in Godzilla’s leg supercharges him and that’s why he did the atomic breath so long

I love when Godzilla (2014) only shows glimpses of the fighting monsters, and just basically focuses on how massive they are in the human world, giving us perspective of the ground up. While the recent ones just full blown pacific rim level of cinematography. Both are impressive.

I love that seen when Kong go to hollow earth it is so beautiful

Funny how humans (including me) really enjoy not seeing humans and would rather see two giant monsters fight

The vast difference in strength between Godzilla and Kong is just purely insane. Godzilla barely even attempted to hurt Kong, and only considered it a light-weight fight. When he started fighting back after getting hit by the axe, Godzilla tossed Kong around like a baby. Yes, Kong is more intelligent and agile, but that is absolutely no match for a titan twice his weight, and with the ability to absorb energy and punches like its breakfast.

Even after watching GxK, I still loved fight 3 the most in GvK. I don’t like how monsters just grab at each other and wrestle, I like fights like this. This is an underrated opinion but I like the G-21 design the most, even more than G-14, G-19, and G-24.

Funny thing is the city is meant to be evacuated, but you can still see cars and shit moving in the ground lol

man I was genuinely scared for Kong here, I've seen the movie before but every time Big G terrifies me with that predatorial spike of energy chasing Kong down

Given that Hong Kong is on the Ring of Fire, I’m not surprised that the buildings are sturdier than, say, the ones in Boston.

Fun fact, an earthquake would flatten those buildings but 2 monsters fighting? Nah.....😂

Little fun fact to you godzilla fans, the person who was supposed to direct godzilla 94' (which was canceled, go watch a vid about it) put in the crawling scene as a tribute to what could've been godzilla 1994

Honestly this shouldve happened after the mechagodzilla fight... and ended with Zilla burning kongs head off. Idk why they keep his character around.

When this movie first came out I thought there was no way Kong beats Godzilla. At least they gave Kong the final boss kill.

I remember someone making an interesting observation of how they started gain an advantage over one another when they used the other's style. Kong used hand to hand on the carrier and that failed. (Also add the fact that the dude was in Godzilla's environment lol, he wasn't gonna win.) So in this fight, Kong began to use a weapon that can be powered up by radiation. And Godzilla's radiation spam just gave Kong's style more advantage. But when Godzilla switched to hand to hand, or claw to claw, Kong got his shit absolutely rocked.

I love this fight so much!!! As a Kong Fan, I know that he will get beat by Godzilla, but i love that this movie and especially this fight show off each strength on both sides. Kong is physically stronger, and uses his speed, agility, and intelligence to best godzilla at moments. It's stupid how they plotted a shoulder injury on Kong to make him lose the battle. Smart apes like Kong could move/escape ASAP to retrieve or to recover and initiate a further attack.

2:00 Goku VS Kefla

As a Godzilla fan I give Kong credit for kicking Godzilla butt and staying alive that long at the ship and Hong Kong. This Monsterverse Kong is interesting compare the other movies of Kong which Monsterverse Kong is my second fav while Monsterverse and Toho Godzilla will always be my number one favorite. But Kiryu is my most number favorite and hope we get to see him in Monsterverse movies.

If Godzilla vs Bambi was up, that Lizard would still have to cheat and use his Breath as a weapon, he can never fight without it.

U really cutted many important scenes

The most unrealistic thing about that fight - how they didn't level every building in that city and take out key power features as they run around smashing each other into everything. Like seriously, what are those lights made of that can withstand two titans brawling?!

I think having the lights stay on is smart, because it allows the viewers to actually fully see the monsters.

I dunno how China's power distribution system works but if its anything like ours knocking down buildings is not going to stop the power flow for the entire city. Most of the key electrical power stations are likely no where near where they fought.

​@@Darth1Marik yeah unfortunately while China had ALOT of issues the one positive i can give them is they arnt the clusterfuck known as the American infrastructure system. Our country has by far some of the worst city planning possible compared to other countries.

Given that Hong Kong is in in an area prone to earthquakes and typhoons, I could believe that these newer buildings are tougher than most. Plus, there had to have been some kind of move to make buildings "kaiju-resistant" in the years after Godzilla reappeared.
