Solid album! The ending of the song Lighting up the sky with a mix of old songs is pretty cool.

While I can definitely understand where the criticisms for this album are coming from, I don't think it was really supposed to be this top tier energy machine that that the first three were. Admittedly I would've preferred something like that to be their final release overall, But what we got was definitely the most realistic result. And as far as their discography is concerned... Lighting Up The Sky doesn't offer enough sonically for me to have it in constant rotation. But if there was ever a moment where I just wanted to look back and reflect on the absurd journey I've had in the last 7+ years... Then yeah, It'd be the perfect candidate. It feels weird to say that a Godsmack album resonated with me this deeply but I won't lie, Surrender didn't grab my attention on the first listen, But the second I heard Best of Times, Growing Old, and the title track back to back my emotions were all over the place, Went from motivated to build up my channel again to accepting retirement in the matter of minutes. It was a feeling that I had never experienced before and it hasn't happened again since. So in that way, I think Lighting Up The Sky was the perfect swan song for the band. It's definitely not without its flaws, With Red White & Blue being the one track that should not have been on the album whatsoever (If only just because it doesn't fit in thematically with the rest). But the level of pure sincerity it contains is unlike any of the others. All it really needed was more variety in the sonic department, And it could've been the definitive Godsmack experience. But as it stands, I respect the hell out of what we got and I wish other bands (*Cough* Puddle Of Mudd) would have a similar approach.

I think you're looking for how the songs jam and not so much for the lyrics. My life personally all of Godsmack's albums have at least 6 songs each that i can relate to with many of my experiences. (WLR having the most) songs

Also, "You and I" IS NOT a single. It was just a track release. 😉

Correct. The second single is Soul On Fire. But I understand why some think You and I is the 2nd single.

Kinda sucks it’s most likely Godsmacks last album of their career. Sully has pretty much confirmed it will be.

I disagree with the statement that WLR is their worst album. 1000HP is easily their worst. Idk what you're hearing lol.

100HP is good hard rock. Legends Rise is weak

Not really sure. I do like the new Obituary album and the new In Flames album more than this album.

I forgot about the album! Thanks mj. A seven😳 doesn’t overly excite me but then again when legends rise is one of my favourite albums so I might like this new one better than you. Take it to the edge is one of my favourite songs

Yeah it’s good but wouldn’t say great or amazing. Fans of the last album will definitely enjoy it though.

This was their worst album in my opinion, it was bland and nothing special, there was 5 songs I liked but other than that, this album was disappointing and painfully average, 5/10.

I still think When Legends Rise is their worst but Lighting Up The Sky is probably second worst for me.

This record is a HUGE disappointment. A few tracks are OK, but this record has no meat, no edge. They phoned it in. Clearly, their worst effort. It blows.
