"The courses at the Irish Pagan School offer an in-depth approach to Irish paganism that is based on genuine history and folklore. There is so much here for curious learners of all levels to gain knowledge and insight on their spiritual paths while avoiding the misinformation that is sadly common in popular modern paganism. I have benefited greatly from the classes and look forward to taking more."

One of the best things about being Pagan is that God, either symbolically or literally, resides within you either by the land you live on, the culture and people you interact with, the things you learn, and to some degree possibly your genealogy. As such, it's difficult to say 'God' in the dominant Abrahamic sense, but also it's not completely true to say they are merely ancestors. I think they are ancestors (we have to get beyond the genealogical sense of the word - as if biology is the only thing with a genealogy - this is not true e.g. culture, words, stories) but they are also different beings with unique traits.

Monotheism has given us a very specific understanding of what it means to be a god. The definition of God has been far more open across time and space. It can make it difficult to communicate our meaning to someone whose definition is all powerful and creative sky (or earth) being. I know Brigid exists and has power because of Her influence in my life. I don't really need further understanding

i just had this exact conversation last night ,with my Ukrainian Christian orthodox partner . it was a task not finished , she hears me talking to Dagda and tries to understand how i feel about our ancestors and Deity's , we know so little and Jon you Lora are doing our culture a service and i thank you both for that task. the Grand one never asked me to bow my head , so i may show reverence to his greatness . the Good one never asked me to take a knee , so i may be beneath him . Our Dagda stands beside us all , equally . if you think with a colonial mindset it will be difficult to understand the true meaning of da Dagda and all of the Goddess and Gods . Deities demigods and gifted ones in the stories of old . put to paper by a Christian monk with money from a Chief/king/bishop . its a task not finished .

Where do you get the name "Mata" (?; not sure I heard correctly) for the sea monster at Mag Muirthemne that an Dagda drives off by striking it on the head with Lorg Anfaid? In the Dinnshenchas it is called "Muir-selche", so I am excited to possibly find another source for that story.

I am uncomfortable with the word demigod for multiple human based ego mindset reasons, However I do believe some of the lesser known Tuatha do fit that description tho.

Not sure it could ever be confirmed, but id like to think that you are a descendant of An Dagda
