I have to admit I do not like adds but things have to be paid for somehow. Adds are better than no content, just hope that over time they do not become too intrusive. The current level are not too bad in most cases. If I had a choice I would prefer adds be at the beginning.

Thank you so much for this video. Didn’t want to plow through the manual and you explained everything I need. Thanks again!
I just purchased 2 of the Godox AD100s and the Godox X Pro C. First venture into flash and , after watching several supposedly "easy to understand" videos, became very frustrated trying to get it all to work. Your video is EXCELLENT! To get the Flash to remember the group you have to push set button after finding the wished group you want! A super helpful movie to help me make up my mind and go for a Xpro trigger
The video was a life saver, the default range being set to 1-300m was my issue. After changing it to 0-30m everything worked perfectly.

@@photojoseph Not just yet, but planning on new speed lights for 2019 when our season ramps back up. These may be what we are looking for. The other option may be Profoto A1 units if they come out with a dedicated Lumix TTL remote. Still debating between the two, but close to pulling the trigger on something. Decided to hold out and hopefully see them both at WPPI, which is just around the corner. These are pretty enticing though considering the price point!

Essential viewing. I've just invested in three V860ii and a XPro trigger and was getting very frustrated trying to get them set up. There's some subtleties--like setting the flash zoom to - - - that I had almost worked out myself but didn't understand, and then your video made it clear. There's a few videos out there, including some from Godox themselves, but you get right to the point in very clear fashion. "VERY edited ..?" I got an XPro remote and TT685o today to use with my G9 after seeing several positive reviews and helpful tutorials like yours. The TT685 wouldn't mount to my camera.'s hotshoe After rechecking to confirm I got the right model, I found the contact pins had very sharp, unfinished-looking points that I smoothed a bit with a jeweler's file. That worked, but it's a reminder that the low price can have its downside.
Looks good, I might do a buy
So glad I found this. I have the same remote trigger and I've tried to wade through Godox's pdf manual and it just confused me, partly due to its multiple configurations but also it isn't all that well-written. Now I think I have a handle on using this with my TT350 flash, which is more or less like the larger one you used.

Glad to find this review as I just picked up this remote. Quick question- if I want to use two bodies, would it make sense to have two remotes and would both cameras be able to control the light setup? or for example, two photographers using the same setup- each with a remote?
It helps me much.Thanks
Congratulations for this video.
Great video, everything so clearly explained - thanks! I have a question... I intend to get a godox xpro remote for my Nikon, I already have 3 Nikon flashguns, will I need a Godox receiver to fire each of these? If so, what would work best with the godox xpro transmitter? Thanks!

I see that the hot shoe mount is now metal. On one of the older reviews it was plastic. With this thing sticking up off of the camera, I can see bumping it against something. Nice to see they made that change if it was in fact plastic before.

Love Godox for what they have done, on that note the main issue(s) are if you're using non Godox strobes you can not control the lights even with the firmware updates. All you have is a trigger it's looking like Yongnuo is the only flash controller that will work with your mix of light.
@photojoseph
4 жыл бұрын
You’re saying they Yongnuo triggers will control other brand lights? Seriously?
I bought twp V860IIOs and the XPro for my Lumix G9 and GH6. It takes some practice, especially since they operate quite differently than the SB800 and SB600s in my old Nikon CLS. For example, I need to crank the gain way up to be able to use the McNally Lastolite. With the Nikon CLS, the camera and Speedlight would compensate. Finally, since the WiFi on the G9 and GH6 is 2.4 GHz, same band as the XPro trigger, I have not found a channel in the Godox system that does not interfere with the Panasonic Image App on my iPhone. Thanks to your videos, I had very little learning curve with navigating the flash and trigger menus.

Going between the lightning bolt to the antenna mode on the flashes has tripped me up a few times.
That focus assist lamp is really good in low light, even if you don't use your flashes. It nails focus every time so I tend to keep it on the camera in low light or shooting things with no contrast features in them, such as a plain wall. NOTE: It does not work when you set your Canon to focus AI or Servo. You need to be in ONE SHOT mode. Took me ages to figure this out.

I don’t, sorry. Don’t shoot Sony and also don’t have that flash.
I think the ID setting is for newer firmware, many Godox devices have been recently released to include it. It's not documented well either. Basically the receiver will only listen to the transmitter with a matching ID number, even if on the same channel.

@photojoseph
5 жыл бұрын
You need SOMETHING to trigger the remote light. The cheapest route is to get optical slaves. They’re about $10 each and will trigger anything with a hot shoe or PC connector. Search “optical Slave” on amazon. They just have to be line of site; that’s the limitation. And of course everything is manual.
Hi thank you for the tutorial. One question I have is that, when you set a setting on the remote , is it possible to adjust the settings on the flash unit and it will update the settings to the remote. I use flash to shoot multiple exposures and then blend them in post. So I want to avoid having to touch the remote unit attached on the camera if I need to make adjustments.
@photojoseph
Жыл бұрын
I don’t think that’s possible. The remote can control multiple lights, each with different settings. If you updated the flash, should that propagate the changes to the other flashes? If movement of the camera is a concern, look for a cable that you can but between the camera and the controller. Canon makes on for their lights, for example, that might even work with other brands.
Using the above equipment, if you switch modelling light to 'on' from the trigger, then press your 'depth of field' preview button on your camera, the flash will emit a series of rapid flashes so you do indeed have a modelling light with these flashes. Don't overdo it though
Will that red light that assists in focusing improve the auto-focusing capability of the GH5? Thanks
@photojoseph
5 жыл бұрын
The red light is for focusing in very low light, where the camera might not normally be able to focus. I have’t compared with and without the light in very low light situations. The GH5 AF is stellar for still photos though in any lighting condition. I usually leave those AF assist lights off because I find the super distracting.
Thanks for the explanations, they are very clear. However, I do have a question: With this trigger, it is not possible to switch to the MULTI mode, is it?
@photojoseph

Hm, I don’t recall, sorry. Check with Godox or just download the user guide for the unit you’re interested in.
The TTL funtion of the (x1t/x2t/Xpro) can control the TT600 (Manual Flash)?

Thanks for the video. I assume it would not be able to connect to a canon flash. Works great with the Godox V1, but would be awesome if i could also control my canon 470ex-ai. I am assuming not possible but thought i would ask the community. Thanks

The flash can work as either master or slave, but I don't think the transmitter can be put in slave mode. In short, when the transmitter fires, the flash setting will be overwritten. However, if you program the flash to trigger manually at let's say 1/128 power from the transmitter, you can override the value on the flash manually on its back panel. The flash will trigger once on the new value, and return to the value set on the trigger after firing because there's no value transmitted back to the transmitter from the flash, as the flash is in slave mode (or it wouldn't be triggered by the transmitter).
Can the X Pro remotely control the TT600 (which is manual only, no TTL)?
will this trigger voking vk750's?
Will the Xpro allow you to work the flash if the Xpro iis off the camera? J. Payne 8/1/22.

I don’t know that model, sorry. I suggest looking at the specs on the Godox website.
This works well. One can always pause and repeat! I have a question that's dogged me in understanding all these systems. I shoot with two systems depending on circumstance: Canon EOS, and Panasonic MFT (G9). - Suppose I don't care about putting the speedlights directly on the camera hot shoe. Can I: Buy a set of speedlights, and a remote controller matching each camera system, and shoot the appropriate system with the appropriate controller, using the same speedlights? I assume this would rule out use of system-specific things like TTL.
