God Wants You to Rest (feat. Sr. Mary Grace, SV)

Ойын-сауық

When was the last time you took a real break? Because of the world’s rapid pace, we can easily think of rest as a waste of time or a luxury for those who can afford it.
Sr. Mary Grace reminds us that God didn’t create us to do something but to simply be. She explains that true rest is returning to the reality of who you are. God wants you to enjoy the gift of life. Taking a break might be the bravest thing you do today.

@@inactivemogul403 are you Gnostic? Do you think I’ll be deceived by the Archons? I’m confused about your message. I’m not saying everyone is living justly, but if they woke up to the reality of this playground, this illusion, then they would be able to live a life with more depth in spirit… and thus be more prepared for some eschatological conclusion. However instead of hoping for the apocalypse, I choose to love others (not their sin) and lead with my heart. I choose compassion over castigation. Yesterday, I watched this video for the first time. I was enthralled by the natural beauty of Sr Mary Grace. Last night, I heard that my ex-husband is dying and suffering, so I decided to attend mass in Sydney today. I was listening to Ave Maria on my phone when Sr Mary Grace walked straight towards me outside the church. I thought I was dreaming! I stopped and spoke to her and she explained that she was visiting family in Australia. She held my hand and I felt God's power.

I grew up with an obsessive compulsive mother (now I realize what it was, after being diagnosed myself & ultimately being healed from it) that NEVER let us rest. We always had to be 'doing' something. Something 'productive'. We were not allowed to just be ourselves or rest or have a lazy day. I live a much slower, more intentional life now at 43 & after a nervous breakdown in my late 20s. My mother, in her 60s, is more manic than ever & is ever intruding upon our slow life; always wanting us to 'do something'. My father JUST retired 1 week ago & she has already spent the 1st week hounding him to take her places or to 'do something'. I fear he will have no rest & that she will literally kill him with fatigue/stress. She is not happy unless everyone is 'accomplishing' something or putting tons of physical effort into some task, in the end she causes herself/others much more work than necessary. I have to really pay attention to this trait in myself & go against it. Happiness is not found in accomplishments if the accomplishments ruin peace of mind or others' lives along the way. I want the rest that God provides! Be Still.....

I also try to feel all the feels that come with it (and they don’t all feel good) objectively (ex: I’m sad, it’s ok to feel this, it’s ok to cry even tho I’m always trying to be strong). I also remind myself that God is with me and I pray for Him to help me with this ❤

Thank you, Sr. Mary, for a message that needs to be heard in a culture that very much idolizes work. Idle time, when employed properly, is not only necessary for rejuvenation, it is essential for our creative potential. Creativity, among a few other traits, is what truly distinguishes us from other animals. A hustle culture that scorns times of relaxation, self-reflection, and contemplation is, therefore, antithetical to human flourishing. It is inhumane. To submit to a never ending barrage of work, with no respite for ones own mental and physical restoration, is to resign oneself to the plight of a lower animal - a beast of burden.

Notice little wins, celebrate moments between the boys going to sleep and then next time they wake (even if it's difficult over night). It's amazing how little sleep us mothers can survive on! My advice is to keep talking to God, just throw those little prayers of help up and ask him to send you a friend that can REALLY come alongside you. Prayers that you keep getting through each day, I see you 💝

Rest is not always possible without community. Pastor Rich Villodas had a beautiful view on Sabbath in that many don't have the privilege to rest. That is unless their community steps in and helps them get it. That may mean practical help or monetary help. I wonder if there is anyone in your life who might be able to help you out so you could get a little rest. If you don't have anyone, I wonder both about a church community and a social service agency who might provide respite for caregivers of individuals on the spectrum. May God bless you with community who can help you find rest!

Where does it say that in the Bible ? On the contrary in the second book of Genesis it says : “Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.” Gen 2 verse 15 NKJV. It doesn’t say God put man there to BE. Plus when establishing the sabbath to us the LORD said: “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall LABOR and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.” Exodus 20 :8-11. We were definitely created to work not just to be. There are plenty more biblical examples : proverbs 6:6-11 etc! :) God bless you 🙏

Thank you Sr. Mary Grace! I am recovering from a brain injury, it’s been 2 years and I feel tremendous guilt and worthlessness every time I have to go back to periods of total cognitive rest in my day. Thanks for the reminder that God made us to rest.

“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy." You know I was tracking with the sister through most of this and I agree hence why I listen however I have to say twice she mentioned about God didn't plan us for something useful. I disagree I mean from the beginning of time God had a purpose and a plan for our lives and the Bible says that in Jeremiah 29:11. There are things we are to do, not just sit around and bask in the sunlight. You know Adam and Eve they had tasks God planned for them. they didn't just sit in his presence all day long. Rest is much needed for the reason she has outlined, but it also helps us to be recharged so we can do the work God has for us. Thanks

Absolute truth, in a world designed as a vampiric system. Take part with the Most High, for He said: 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11

This video came at a time when I’ve been having near daily panic attacks, in large part due to feeling like I’m not moving forward quickly enough in my life. It’s far from the only contributing factor but it’s the thing that’s taking up the most space in my mind right now. I feel like I constantly have to be doing something productive, but worrying about that so much takes up so much energy that it’s extremely difficult to get anything done. I’ve been so anxious I haven’t had much of an appetite for weeks and my weight currently is the lowest it’s been since I was 14 and admitted to inpatient treatment for anorexia. I’m currently unemployed and only taking three classes at a community college. But I’m also only 19 years old and am already set to go to university next semester. I saw the title of this video in my recommended feed and literally scowled at it because I thought “I already waste time all day resting.” And then I thought “Any time I’m not studying or doing housework or job-hunting, I’m still constantly ruminating about how I have to do those things and getting mad at myself for how lazy I am for not doing them. That’s not resting.” On top of everything I’ve also been having a lot of trouble with my faith. I don’t pray anymore and I haven’t for months and months. I tell myself it’s because it’s a waste of time but I think the reality is I think it’s a waste of time for GOD to have to listen to me complain about how I’m spiraling again. I feel like he’s gotten sick of me. This was sort of a wake-up call. I think he wanted me to see this video. Anyway, sorry for the vent-I actually feel sort of better now after writing all of that down because it’s clearer to me just how irrational I’m being. I’m going to go and pray a rosary for the first time in probably over a year.

This is beautiful thank you .. I am in desperate need of rest.. we've had 2 years of my partner first suffering a back injury, then mental health problems and past traumas resurfacing (ongoing), resulting in no work.. with me working full time while dealing with this.. no holidays or proper breaks.. now I'm being told to not waste life by having a lie in or nap occasionally.. and my partner is the one quotes the bible. I'm sooooo tired.... ❤ thank you God and the angels and Jesus for strength, love and guidance 🙏
