Keep in mind how large this thing is and factor in how fast he moved when he saved Atreus and Kratos in the final boss fight. No wonder him and Thor are evenly matched.

I always admired the developers attention to scaling. It's not enough to just make something look big though, it's got to feel big, move like it's BIG and sound like it's *BIG.*

It's big enough

Eitr is the poison of Jormungandr- the fact that the leviathan axe gets „Eitr imbued“ means, that Kratos is able to hurt and kill the aesir gods now: exactly as it is mentioned in norse mytholgy, where Eitr kills Thor during the events of Ragnarok. I like this small detail right in the beginning of the game.

@@moxiemonologues2133 yes, that´s the reason - very interesting in my opinion. in addition: I think, modi MAY come back, because atreus stabbed him with his dagger, which is not "eitr imbued" - well, at least we do not know anything else about this dagger or lokis ability to kill gods :)

@@noncanalepricnipale In the GoW4 Norse Lore, Helheim is the place where people go if they died without honor (old age, sickness). Meanwhile, gods like Magni don't need the valkyries to guide them to Valhalla--they can go in and out freely because of their godhood. That's why Atreus was expecting him to resurrect. However, Magni didn't come back to life. So this was the theory I was exploring with Timm, that maybe the Eitr prevented him to resurrect. Although I'm not quite sure of its soundness, either. Also, where did Magni go if he wasn't in Valhalla or Hel?

I don't think the eitr was used by kratos since the axe was originally made for giants. Maybe when atreus finally uses it that the poison will activate and strike a mortal blow to thor and any other aesir god

The devs really know modern gamin' culture if they slapped these easter eggs on off camera stuff. It only makes the game far better than it was with all this attention to detail.

When you go inside the snake there's a moment you go in with pitch black transition, and that Transition probably teleport you into another level design that created for mission. Or the level design just shoved right into the snake mouth because when I go to inside the snake mouth feel a lil bit smaller than what I expected also it really detailed and not detail as free camera with this video. The conclusion the snake and the level design are the different asset. CMIIW

Interesting to see that they focused the particle effect only where it appears in camera. And that the distant audio algorithm still work in the mod even in the cutscene playing and with the serpent breath.

Okay so far there's the whole Baldor flipping off Kratos thing off camera scene, then they added a breathing sound effect event though the player could never reach there to hear it... God I haven't seen devs poor this much love into a game in over a decade.

I think the breathing sound is probably just coded to be wherever the Serpent’s head is.

World Serpent is so cute and adorable. Wish I could keep him as a pet.

even the grass of that mountain super far from the path to follow is well done 1:55 the most deserved goty in history

Jesus F Christ, seen this way it looks even MORE intimidating, you can appreciate much more how massive the snake is and the breathing sounds when you get close? totally unnecessary, but an attention to detail that is admirable, it chills your spine when you hear it, thank god Jormunganrd is friendly

If you speed up when he was talking you can make out “I know you” and I don’t know of the next line is “ghost of Sparta” but you can kinda hear it

Surely I can't be the only one who was waiting for it to suddenly open its eyes...? 😅

Seeing how far they actually fall down when the water shifts, in contrast to Atreus being so calm is jarring, if not a bit amusing...if I was his age I'd be screaming and freaking the hell out!

If you play this faster the world serpent actually says I know you ghost of sparta

And this is done on a Jaguar processor. What was considered years behind PC parts for the time.

Fun fact it said: I know you ghost of Sparta find mimir go 2x speed

I would shit myself if that thing suddenly appeared in front of me

The World Serpent must be at least 1 billion Tonnes in weight.
