I love that we got more of the "real" Tyr in this DLC. We only got "fake" Tyr in the full game, which I'm sure Odin copied most of Tyr's personality. But the fact that Tyr understands Kratos, and is willing to help him pass his own "test" truly shows what real Tyr's potential could have been if he was in the original game. Acting almost like a guide to Kratos on the path of redemption he doesn't deserve

But that also makes Tyr a special kind of case to how Kratos would truly start deciding to walk upon the path of redemption. That's also why I think Mimir showing up first and being Kratos' guide upon the world he needed to survive with Atreus was the best fit because despite being the smartest man alive, he still has flaws. That's why I like to believe Mimir is the map that Kratos found to show him where he can go from then and there. Tyr's the compass that leads him to the place he needs to bring himself to.

Especially when Kratos is deprived of fighting his own demons, reflecting on his past and soon atoning for his sins to come. And the fact it’s labeling him from God of War to God of Hope man. That there is a paragon of not just hope but like the embodiment of being human. Kratos is by far an incredible character.

@@nemesisnidhoggr1468 What happened to our indigenous ancestors is the between the most unfortunate incidents of our country's history, if not the most. Call it appropriation if you will, but I was born here in Mexico, not anywhere else, and I have at least some percentage of indigenous blood running threw my viens, so I don't know how educating myself on our history and being proud of what the spanish took from us is appropriation. And about the term "prehispanic", it is a term used on the countries that were victims of spain's invasions, Mexico isn't the only country with a 'prehispanic' period. Prehispanic means: of, relating to, or being the time prior to the spanish conquests in the western hemisphere, and I so happened to use it in this case because it is precisely to those times I refer to, and precisely the ones that I'm most fanatical of, you know, the times before the Spanish conquests in my country. And finally, In your place I would've said "The indigenous people's of the americas", because native americans is a term used for the indigenous people's native to United States.

That misses the entire point of his story. There is no redeeming himself. There is nothing that he can do to ever make up for his past actions. But he needed to stop letting those actions drag him down. He need to be in the present, not the past, because what he chooses now determines what can happen in the future. That is hope. To be a God of Hope is not redemptive. It is greater. If he were a God of Redemption, then every action would be chosen out of obligation. As a God of Hope, it is not obligation but belief, to act even if you are uncertain of whether something will be better but choosing to try and make a brighter future anyway. The God of Redemption is always looking at the past. The God of Hope looks to the future. He will make a future that he sees fit, not to change what's there because it was made but because it can be better. Because it can all be better. Because everyone deserves happiness. Because everyone deserves a better life. Because they hope. Because he hopes.

It's central to part of him as highlighted in the DLC, and the past does not rule him, but it absolutely is integral to him and his choice to be better than what he once was. It also (in my opinion) doesn't encompass the extreme amount of temperance that he still applies to the darker emotions inside him. It feels like he's more a God of Second Chances now, but I'm not sure if that's the right description either.

this journey of self introspection really resonates with me and my own life right now. Bit of an egodeath phase. Coming to terms with self-sabotage and trauma, fears and insecurities. We can only try to love our egos to death, they will always be with us... for us to learn from and be more mindful and present in the future, so we don't continue repeating the same mistakes. Sometimes the universe gives us what we want, but because it doesn't happen the way we want or how we imagined, we pour scorn on it, instead of accepting things as they are. The universe will spit back... we have to become stronger and better people when given the opportunity to reflect, learn and grow and do our best to be navigated by our higher selves, and not our egos. Kratos deserves peace, but he can only grant it to himself.... like all of us...

And also it is clear as day comparing god of war 3 kratos to him and that the old kratos has been skipping on his training and has not tried to kill and clearly control as shown in the comics and the website of this along with Cory barlog saying that 2018 is regaining all of his strength back to protect his son from any threat.

I know they can do another GOW game because of the money this saga makes, but from a narrative perspective, as I like to see all stories, this is the perfect ending for the character. No need to continue at all. I like when things have an ending, and I like it even more when it's so well-rounded, written and perfect as this one.
