good thing atreus never talked about ironwood and Angrboða in front of them. keeping that promise to her was actually very important, probably was the one thing odin didnt know about, had he found out, he definitely would have used her against him. and depending on if and when hed go after her, it couldve been before Atreus learned how to do the whole soul transfer thing, before he put the soul inside a young jormungandr. kindof cool

Kratos is the champion. In the vision, the Champion is depicted holding a spear in one hand and gjallarhorn in the other. It was Kratos who blew gjallarhorn and had the draupnir spear with him as he marched on towards Asgard with a combined army of all realms. When Atreus assumed the champion was him, Kratos tells him "you assume too much" and Mimir says something like "Aye, best not to read into these abstractions so literally. Prophecies are slippery by nature." It's like the GoW team hinting at us saying it is not who Atreus thinks it is.

Odin is able to "tell the truth" while still lying about the context as I believe Freya pointed out. You can see that his shock and disbelief is genuine but rather than him being so in disbelief that he's leading the charge against Asgard, he doesn't want to believe that he's been deceived this whole time and that he's fated to die, which makes this reaction make a lot more sense.

Without the context of that twist, it just seemed like "Tyr" speaking his intent to remain true to his newfound "pacifism", but after finding out about the twist, it takes a new meaning that Odin intends to remain true to his character and stay on the path of his objective. Fun little detail the devs did to differentiate Odin and the real Tyr. If you look closely at the subtitle here, the “Tyr” here doesn’t have an accent symbol on his name (which he should) but if you save the REAL Tyr, the subtle shows the accent symbol above the Y on his name showing he’s the real deal. The dev’s gave us a huge clue right there and none of us realized it because some of us probably didn’t know Tyr had that accent in his name to begin with, GENIUS! Well done Santa Monica

Interesting bit here: Each character has their name highlighted in the prophecy, all but the champion and the one who would lead the 8 realms to fight Asgard. They only know the champion (which everyone already know it's Atreus) and god of war, not specifically Tyr, which means everyone misinterpreted that single detail because in the end it was Kratos that led the charge.

When Kratos who destroyed an entire pantheon and killed 3 norse gods finds about Atreus/Loki being destined to die fighting heimdall took the GOW office killed heimdall then fight and beat thor and then Odin w Loki and Freya. He fits better on being the champion and the god of war too. The last prophecy shows Kratos as an all father but for loki there was none. I assume that last shrine complete that champion of the jotnar prophecy. The other side shows Kratos leaving a destroyed greece and Faye dealing whith fate stuff. Loki's destiny is yet to be seen.

Huge spoilers for the game in this comment so stop reading if you haven't completed it, but take note of the subtitles too. "Tyr" here does not have an accent over the "y", but when you can rescue the real Týr in Niflheim after you finish the game, it actually does have the accent over the "y" in the subtitles when he speaks. It's definitely intentional too I believe, they seem to take spelling things correctly in dialog and the journal very seriously, e.g. they use "ð" and "Ð" where accurate instead of just a "d" which is often an easy stand-in. A tiny, seemingly incredibly insignificant detail, but hinting it's not really him from the very moment you meet "Tyr".

I think it’s clear that when Kratos said you assume too much about the identity of the champion, He realized that interpretations of prophecy can become erratic and unclear which is why his message to Atreus throughout this game is “Fate only binds you if you let it, Do what is necessary, not because it is written”, he understands more than any of the characters in this game that prophecy is a tool for control and a scapegoat for not taking control of ones life/fate. Post game I don’t think Kratos is the champion I think he will occupy many monikers and titles within various mythologies depending on the story being told.

Everything leading up to finding him seemed suspect (durlin & dinner). Spear when we 1st rescue Tyr, "Frigg", bumping into atreus due to not seeing him (missing eye), "she lied", Draupnir, and the photo of "young Odin" underneath the great Lodge. Not having much insight to give atreus about the giants... even tho he was their friend. Plus Mimr told us how Odin operated in GoW2018, so subterfuge made since. Santa Monica was really smooth with this

4:39 You can see 'Tyr' under emphasizing Odin's evil doings by calling them just 'misdeeds' rather than crimes.

It's a good thing Atreus didn't say anything about Ironwood around Tyr

I just had a though. Tyr was a god of war. If "Tyr" ever tried fighting, Kratos might catch on to something not being right. Odin mostly faught with magic and would not know how to make the best use of Tyr's physic. Maybe that's why he was suddenly a pacifist.

Whatever the prophecy place is called, it’s beautiful. So mystical and bright, I love it.

I may replay this game again one day just to see all the “tyr “ moments in a new perspective.

I like to imagine the anxiety packed Odin when he said "She lied". Fuck him. Brok deserved better.

3:32 You can even hear the Hand of Odin theme here, an obvious hint in hindsight
